Shampoo bars

I have recently switched from body wash to natural soaps. No plastic and they smell so divine, it's like being in a spa and skin feels soft. Want to switch to shampoo bars and was wondering whether anyone had any recommendations please. And do you also use a conditioner bar too?

I use either gruum ones or soul&soap ones soulandsoap.co.uk

I've always had really half frizzy half greasy hair but since switching to bars it's been great, can normally even get away with not using conditioner bars as well. Never done a vinegar rinse...

Even my hairdresser was impressed how good condition my hair was without conditioner when I had it cut 2 weeks ago

Thank you, gruum are doing 50% off for emergency workers so am going to order ;)
For those who've used Gruum which shampoo bar have you used? And do you use a conditioner too? Thank you.

I use gruum. Not sure which one. Can’t get the hang of the conditioner though, it’s pretty solid like wax. I love the shampoo and the whole family use it.

I've used the revitalising one so far, am about to start the nourishing coconut one. I'm using a soul&soap conditioner bar at the moment so cant tell what the gruum one is like yet

Love the tea tree and peppermint soul and soap shampoo bar, smells a little like the original source shampoo but without the tingle 😂

I've tried a few and Grüm are the best for me. They lather really well and leave my hair super clean and soft.
I don't bother with conditioner but occasionally use a couple of drops of Argan oil before drying my hair.

I've tried the coconut and the cocoa ones, and have just ordered the colour protect. Both of the ones I tried were very similar and I'd buy either again.

I’ve found these really good. Different types for different types of hair, and quite a cool small business:

We have ridiculously hard water - how do these shampoo bars work in hard water? I also ditched bar soap because I got fed up of scrubbing soap scum off the bath and shower all the time.

I use Blue Lemon shampoo bars (they do mail order) and get conditioner from a refill shop.

grey12 · 09/08/2020 08:47

I got one online from "the little goat soap company". It's nice :) it does come with some plastic wrapping unfortunately. I have very sensitive scalp and so I try to get ones with natural ingredients.

Quick tip: to use it I take a tiny bit in my palm and tap it/rub it with the fingers of my other hand. It goes a creamier consistency easier to use :)

I use Biovene, they are a Spanish company and do really nice products.

From the UK I recommend Candies, they are a London based mother and daughter company, very small and worthy of support.

We have very hard water too and I find them good. They do lather a little but not much

Forgot to say:

I use coconut oil as conditioner. Big glass tub from supermarket.

Aragog · 09/08/2020 10:06

To make them last longer we use hessian style bags to store ours in rather than a tin. We hand the bags up in the shower. It's made a big difference in how long the bars last. In the tubs they often end up being stored wet and they go a funny texture.
