I need a sulphate free shampoo which actually cleanses the hair

I have very curly (3b/c and on the dry side) hair and a lot of TLC (along with products) goes into my mane. I avoid silicones and try to avoid sulphates but I find I always ends up with product build up even with regular sulphate free shampoo use and I end up using a 'normal' shampoo every now and then to get the grease off but it is drying my hair.

I have tried the Palmer's shampoo and just finished one of the Maui moisture shampoos. Both didn't quite work.

Can someone recommend a shampoo which is sulphate free but gets rid of dirt/product build up?

oh, should have said I am willing to spend about £5. There are some shampoos with amazing reviews out there but I will never spend £30 on a bottle of hair wash

I really like Faith in Nature. However I don't use other products in my hair so I'm not sure whether it would do the job for you or not. Worth a try maybe, it's not expensive.

If you're only willing to buy cheap shampoo you won't get a decent one without sulphates. Sulphates are what makes shampoo cheap

I like the Charles Worthington micellar shampoo. It's slightly more than £5 though I think - maybe £8 ish?

I've just ordered the shea.10 in 1 fruit fusion one its £10 though. I was going to go for the noughty one but its out of stock at the moment. Like you, I need.to use shampoo sometimes, but my hair is so much better.already using the curly girl method. I'm type.2b/2c.

What about trying a shampoo bar. Lots of those are Sulphate free. I've been using them since Christmas and am happy. (Can't recommend a brand as the one I have now was an M&S Xmas gift product and I can't remember the one I used before. Two bars in 6 months is pretty good going).

As a previous poster said, you're not going to get anything decent for a fiver! A more realistic budget is £10-£15 unless on offer. However used properly it should last a long time. Wash twice using a small amount - about the size of a broad bean. The first wash won't lather well but the second one will.
Faith in Nature isn't Next, I get it from the health food shop, I think it is about £9.50.
The proper Moroccan Oil range is expensive but fantastic. My last set of shampoo and conditioner was over £40 but lasted about 4 months.

I use House of Mistry, they got an online shop and are around £4-6.
They’re the only natural shampoos which get my hair clean properly ( not curly, more textured and most other shampoos always leave a “dirty” patch behind the ears).
I heard about them from a recommendation here about 8 years ago and have used them since, no repeat usage fatigue yet.

Have you checked what is in the other products you mention you use? They might be what is causing build up, which you cant shift with sulfate free shampoo if its silicones

Bain and Savon to shampoo bars that are sulphate free. I love my milk one.

Friendly Soap Company do good sulphate free bars too, and the best conditioner I have ever had.

I rate purology but it's expensive. However, Johnson's baby shampoo is also quite good and super cheap. Somewhat of a false economy though because you have to use an awful lot of it to get your hair clean. But could be worth a try?

Snap and the garner natural conditioners in the brown and blue bottles are silicone free so I’m probably getting both for £5

Noughty is sulphate free but turns my 2c/3a hair into a dry matted mess

Have you tried using a co wash? The as I am cowash is amazing, and I’ve heard good things about the cantu one
