You add layers underneath. There is an underskirt that goes with it with some frills made from mattress ticking cotton with the stripes running vertically. You can get this underskirt in different colours for different looks, belts also available.

I wear with the underskirt, mary janes and spotty long socks/tights or without the underskirt with long black boots
