Just that! Hate them

OP posts:
Shmithecat2 · 27/06/2020 16:29

I'm a size 10. But I'm also 6'2.

missingmum · 27/06/2020 16:33

Me! And I'm only 5ft 4" 😩

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2020 16:34

Size 9. Not paranoid, the rest of me is chunky too. I’d look ridiculous with little feet.

Gotthetshirt23 · 27/06/2020 16:35

Size 8 , love Docs and am 43 in IC which are fabulous.
I hated having big feet as child but happy now .

ZaZathecat · 27/06/2020 16:35

As a child/teenager I was. Not so much now, though I still choose my shoes carefully to try to avoid the clown look. (5ft 6)

Aquamarine1029 · 27/06/2020 16:37

Unless you're 4'11" , how is a size 8 considered big? Confused

caz123456 · 27/06/2020 16:37

I'm a size 10 and hate how big they look. I really struggle to find nice shoes and just buy from Evans. Where does everyone else with bigger feet get theirs?

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 27/06/2020 16:46

I'm a size 7. Hated them when I was younger but don't care now. I'm 5 foot 7 so they are in proportion.

roxfox · 27/06/2020 17:08

size 8 and people never believe me and say they look much smaller! Never bothered me as my mum and aunt wear size 8 so I grew up with it as my normal. I'm above average height for a woman, but my mums pretty short imo and her feet look perfectly sized to me!

YouStupidBoy · 27/06/2020 17:13

I am size 8 and just like that there are almost always nice shoes and running shoes left in the sales as it's a less common size!

When I was younger I remember some brands didn't do women's shoes up to an 8 so I used to feel that they were too big, but I haven't come across that in years (20 or so maybe...).

CushionsandCandles · 27/06/2020 17:18

Size 8 here (5ft 10) so I'm proportion.
Hated them as a child though as they grew before I did!

JoleneExotic · 27/06/2020 17:20

7.5 here at 5ft8 my feet look fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

SageMist · 27/06/2020 17:22

My mum has size 8 feet, and they just seem normal to me. She's in her 80s now but she used to have great difficulty in getting shoes that fit properly during and just after the war, and even in the 50s and 60s. She says it's much easier now to get well fitting nice shoes. My dad takes size 7 shoes so smaller than mum, and they seem normal to me too!

Bluntness100 · 27/06/2020 17:24

I’m a seven and a half, often buy an eight and think my feet look fine..🤷‍♀️

InAPickleGodDamn · 27/06/2020 17:25

An old friend was 6 ft 2 and had size 10 (or was it 12?) feet and felt very self-conscious.

She never wore heels and struggled to find 'pretty' shoes so did buy some from retailers catering to the transgender customer Hmm

This was a few years back though, there may be more options these days.

harper30 · 27/06/2020 17:30

I don't think you should worry about it OP, I can pretty much guarantee no one else but you ever thinks about it. I'm between a 7 and an 8 but often just buy 8 if there's no wide fit 7 available and it doesn't bother me at all. I think it did when I was younger, as did my height, but now don't care.
Am 5'9/5'10.

pawpawpawpaw · 27/06/2020 17:31

I've been an 8 since 11 or 12yo, in the 70s. It was hard to find larger shoes then, often the shop would only order a couple of pairs and when they were gone they were gone. My mum used to say 'A tall building needs a strong foundation' and 'If you had small feet you'd topple over.' Smile

I have insecurities but this isn't one of them, I just never think about it. Even the clown feet thing, as if some shoes make them look big? I mean, they are big, I can't make them look any smaller.

Medievalist · 27/06/2020 17:31

Size 8 here. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

anon444877 · 27/06/2020 17:33

It used to worry me when I was younger but there are so many women with size 8 feet these days that it doesn’t any more!

oralengineer · 27/06/2020 17:35

Size 8 and never bothered me. However manufacturers seem to think we are few and far between so either don’t make shoes up to a size 8 or fewer pairs so they are always sold out.

CambsAlways · 27/06/2020 18:03

I’m a size 7/8 but since I’m a big bird a chubster and 5. 7 I suppose I would look strange with small feet

CloudyGladys · 27/06/2020 18:05

This. Plus the same for people with wide feet.
Perhaps there needs to be a proper survey of what shape feet really are and manufacture the whole range of footwear accordingly.

Bmidreams · 27/06/2020 18:08

Love my size 8s, just wish that was my dress size!

SunflowerProsecco · 27/06/2020 18:17

Depends how tall you are. Size 8 is dainty on a tall girl but might look large on a short girl.
To be honest I never really look at the size of people's feet anyway.

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2020 18:22

Totally agree with @oralengineer.
@Bmidreams, I have said that more than once!
