I'm at the other end of the spectrum (1.5-2 depending on style and brand) but I empathise as I imagine we face a lot of similar issues. I appreciate that manufacturers make more things in common sizes because that's what they sell but those of us who are either bigger or smaller than average do get a raw deal. I don't hate my feet, but I hate how difficult it is to get shoes. I dream of being able to go into a shoe shop, try a range on and then choose the ones I like instead of "Well they vaguely fit and aren't absolutely hideous. I'll take them."
I also hate the "jokey" comments that I hear a lot. Why do people even feel the need to say anything? And they all seem to think they are clever and are the first to make a comment that I have heard thousands of times before.
Yes, I have got small feet haven't I, did you think I hadn't noticed? No, I don't fall over any more than average, I haven't lost one of my glass slippers and Prince Charming isn't hunting for me. Yessss, I am aware that there is no VAT on children's shoes thank you, but most shoes in my size are designed for people who weigh about 3 stone and like Peppa Pig. Do you fancy trying to run a half marathon in flashing Lelli Kellys? No, me neither. So, no, actually I don't think I am "lucky" to be able to wear children's shoes. And yes, I have tried putting cotton wool in the toes of size 3s, and using innersoles and no, those grippy things that you can stick inside the heels don't work either.
I have struggled to find shoes for about the last 40 years and have tried everything and everywhere so please, random stranger in the queue for the cashpoint, don't try to educate me, no matter how well meaning you are. I will smile and nod, but in my head I am playing Small Foot Bingo and wishing you would fuck right off.
I imagine there are bigger foot equivalents to these comments and I share your frustration. Why can't people just mind their own business? There is nothing wrong with not being average!
