all their clothes have a weird fit imo.
just bought ds (who is tall for his age and not a skinnymalink) trousers which were HUGE round waist and almost double the length of his legs.

oh yeah, like H&M, also top shit is growing on me again...

Pinkchampagne · 21/09/2007 18:11

i've never bought trousers from Zara, but Karen Millen trousers are the same.
I tried on some lovely trousers in there, but they were stupidly long - you would have had to be over 6ft tall for them to fit properly!

The shop assistant said to me "Well I think they make them so long because it is easy to take them up, but you can't alter them if they're too short"

I didn't buy them because I wasn't paying out another £10 to get them taken up properly!

Boco · 21/09/2007 18:12

It is odd. I had to turn up the legs of a really long pair of trousers, and i'm not good at sewing so they always looked puckered at the bottom. Weird mix of clothes - odd teen t-shirts with v. ugly designs.

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 21/09/2007 18:13

top shit = top shop

Pinkchampagne · 21/09/2007 18:13

I don't think I've ever tried on anything in zara that I have actually liked

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 21/09/2007 18:14

but do like cardies a la zara. HANDYYYY, and also cheap.

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 18:16

The trouser lengths are ok by me, they are the right length or even a tiny bit too long for me which is most refreshingly unusual

agree they have odd sizes - some things are much too large

I have only been once and I did like it, and I bought loads, which I mostly still wear a lot

GAP has weird sizes too. I am a UK 12, but bought UK size 8 linen trousers from there in the summer! (woo hoo)

I used to be 5' 10 but I am pretty sure I have shrunk worryingly

maybe 5' 9 now? But v long legs, I take a 34" leg in Topshop jeans

MaryJB · 21/09/2007 18:22

But no-one ever does shorten them - people just seem to like to stand on the backs of their trousers - which imo looks sooooo scruffy - or is it just me!

I do like Zara - for their shirts, cardigans and skirts, but it has always baffled me why their trousers are so long - its a mystery, and I have a couple of Spanish friends who are no more than 5"5. Strange.......

MaryJB · 21/09/2007 18:37

maybe they all just wear mega heels

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 19:02

what length jeans do you get cod? I didn't think you were that much shorter than me

Love the length of Zara trousers - They are perfect for me! (Yes, I suffer with silly-long-legs)

LaCerbiatta · 22/09/2007 10:51

Half of my wardrobe used to be from Zara, a bit less now. I love it! I shop there in Portugal where things are 30% cheaper than here and the collection a lot more casual. All trousers, except jeans do need to be put up though, bt it's a small price to pay!
The quality is not great but basics like t-shirts, summer trousers and jeans are great and just as good as anywhere else. I wouldn't buy a winter coat or a wool jumper there.
I think that here it's a bit too expensive to compensate for the not so great quality and sometimes odd fittings

missbumpy · 22/09/2007 22:18

I'm with Gemy and FrannyandZooey. I love Zara and I especially love the trousers and jeans. It's one of the few places that does trousers long enough for me. I'm 5"8 (and a bit!) but I need a 34" leg with flat shoes and a 36" leg with heels.

I can see the logic in having things really long so at least you can turn them up. If trousers are too short there's not a lot you can do with them.

lou33 · 22/09/2007 22:21

ooh this is interesting for me as dd1 and i have been trudging about guildford today looking for stores that have jeans in a 36 inch inside leg (she is 5ft 11)

and there arent many

top shop and new look, but not the type of jeans we were looking for
