Saltwater sandals - persevere or send them back?

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 20:27

Ordered some gorgeous rose gold saltwater sandals from schuh...

Love them, left foot fits perfectly, but right foot is really tight on my wide feet. When you look at them off you can actually see the left shoe is a wider fit.

I am a size 7 with widish feet, ordered uk 7 and box says 8...

Will they stretch?!

Or have I got a dud pair and need to send them back?

Worth emailing customer services and asking for another pair, IMO! They definitely look mismatched in size to me.

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 20:33

@styleseeker72 yes think I will have to! Just annoying as love them otherwise and want to wear them now! Plus left foot is perfect...

I ordered two sizes and havered for ages. In the end I kept the smaller pair. Wear them in water and they loosen and stretch. I have wide feet too. They’re blissfully comfy.

Kezmum14 · 27/05/2020 20:35

The right foot doesn’t look like it’s in the sandal properly. I think you should return them and have them replaced in the hope that the new pair are both the same size :)

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 20:38

I expect new leather shoes to be snug but the right one is literally digging in and cutting off my circulation!

KindlyFOD · 27/05/2020 21:10

They look a completely different size!

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 21:36

@KindlyFOD -I'm glad it's not just me! They are labeled exactly the same and the some is exactly the same but the leather is definitely visibly narrower on the right shoe. It's like they're seconds!

Looks like one is a narrow fit, they look odd.

MollyAtTheFolly · 27/05/2020 22:15

I've ordered exactly the same ones (what excellent taste we have!) - I'll look out to see if it happens when mine arrive too. Yours definitely look like they are different widths.

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:24

I just worry that if I send them back they'll send me back exactly the same pair given that on paper they are supposed to be a matching pair! I'll call customer services tomorrow and see what they say...

OP posts:
TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:25

@MollyAtTheFolly yes we clearly have exquisite taste! Well I would love them if they didn't make my right foot feel as though it was about to fall off..,

An 8 in Saltwater sizing is a UK 7, so you have got the correct size.
The problem is you might get another pair and they both fit like the right sandal rather than the left.

polkadotpjs · 27/05/2020 22:32

The right one looks narrower on the sole too. Send them these pics

Notredamn · 27/05/2020 22:35

It's like the right shoe has been stretched lengthways! Very strange, I wouldn't think twice about exchanging those.

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:38

@ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords yes that is my fear, that they will both be like the right!

OP posts:
ScarlettDarling · 27/05/2020 22:38

When I got my saltwaters there were instructions in the box about stretching them by pulling the leather away from the soles. Have a look, see if there's any mention on the box. You're also supposed to be able to wear them in water and leave them on your feet to dry in order to mould them to your feet.

I have very wide feet and find my saltwaters really comfy. I did the stretching thing but not the wetting them thing.

fizzpopbang123 · 27/05/2020 22:38

They used to have an instruction to give the uppers a good pull and stretch out when you take them out the box. Did you do that, and equally to both?

Or maybe the left was on display or has at some point been tried on and already started to stretch?

Sk1nnyB1tch · 27/05/2020 22:39

I think you should return them. Also thank you because I am going to order a pair for myself 😁

TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:40

@MollyAtTheFolly if you get a narrow left one and a normal right one and you happen to have narrower feet than me then we're winning! 😂

OP posts:
TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:43

No instructions on the box, but googling has told me about the stretching thing. I did wonder whether one was ex display but I ordered them online and both shoes look pretty pristine and not like they have been worn.

I just feels a bit wrong to submerge new shoes in water and hope for the best when that will render them pretty much unreturnable?!

OP posts:
TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:44

@Sk1nnyB1tch so clearly the weird odd sizing has not put you off! Aesthetically I love them, just don't want to end up with necrotic toes...

OP posts:
TwistinMyMelon · 27/05/2020 22:46

I have a 15% off code from schuh they sent me if anyone wants it! 😂 (I don't work for them I swear!😂)

OP posts:
Sk1nnyB1tch · 27/05/2020 22:47

I have one size 4 and one size 4.5 foot. So I'll order a 5 and hope for the best 😂

CountFosco · 27/05/2020 22:51

The right shoe looks longer, is that really the case? If so send back, if not soak them in water,it bakes a massive difference to fit (and they will still look new).

fizzpopbang123 · 28/05/2020 08:04

Bottom line, if it's going to niggle with you forever more, send them back and reorder an new pair. Good news is Schuh are reputable, have good customer service, and those shoes are widely available in lots of shops so easily replaceable. Office do them and generally have a discount code knocking around.

I went through stage years ago or wearing these a lot, in quite a few colours, and I did find the fit and sizing did vary. I don't think their quality control is exact tbh. They are not expensive shoes and were originally designed for for holiday and beach wear.
