Beauty gift ideas please

I have a colleague who shares my love of beauty products and her birthday is coming up at the end of next month.

I want to order a gift for her so I will probably need to do it in the next couple of weeks to ensure it reaches her.

I’m not sure what to get! I’ve previously got her make up and brushes from decent brands.

I’d be grateful for ideas.

She’s into lip products but it’s tough to choose colours.

I’m tempted by the new Too Faced neutral palette but she doesn’t wear eye shadow as much.

I’m tempted to get something from Milk as it has good reviews and she might not have tried it.

Maybe Anastasia BH Brie products.

An hourglass powder.

She is going to be 23, medium-tan / asian skin and dark hair.

It doesn’t have to be a make up or skincare gift but not sure what else to buy.

Budget is about £40

And on a separate but related note are flowers a strange thing to send to an 18 year old for her birthday, with a card? I never had flowers at that age but think it might be nice as it a bit of something.

I really don't rate the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. Pillow talk is meant to be an almost universal shade but looks so muddy on me. Don't buy unless you know for a fact the colour works.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 26/05/2020 17:52

@Franticbutterfly Thank you for the heads up! Would you recommend anything instead? I’m interested for myself and a gift!

@somebunnyovertherainbow How about a Lisa Eldridge lipstick set? You could give your mate one lipstick and the pouch and keep one for yourself.

Beauty Pie subscription for 3 months?

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 26/05/2020 21:23

I didn’t know about Lisa Eldridge lipsticks. Unfortunately many of them sold out.

Beauty Pie might be an idea. Need to have a good look at it as I didn’t understand it the first time I read it Hmm

How about the CT eye palettes that are meant to go with certain eye colours? www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/content/shop-by-eye-colour

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 26/05/2020 21:37

I’m very tempted by the Charlotte Tilbury. She’s not overly into eye stuff but think she’d use it if I got a neutral or goldy one. I like those Eyes to Mesmerize things too, maybe that and a mascara? Or is that a shit gift Grin

A pure silk pillowcase

slipperyeel · 26/05/2020 21:41

Something from glossier? They do a nice set of lipstick, cloud paint and balm.

A pure silk pillowcase

I’d love this. Would a 22 year old appreciate it? I’m not sure.

@SomeBunnyovertheRainbow the way I got my head around Beauty Pie was by putting a load of products in my basket and looking at how it worked out the prices.

I've got loads of their products and I'm finding them to be really good quality as well as it being something to look forward to every month.

ChimpsInClothes · 27/05/2020 07:22

A Neom skin treatment candle, £36. It's the kind of thing I wouldn't buy for myself but would love as a gift.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 27/05/2020 07:28

The point I got to last night was thinking if I order from Cult Beauty I can order a CT mesmerise eyes thing and something from Milk and that would be about £45 but that seemed like a weird gift!

Glossier is a good idea too as she might not have tried much of it. I missed this. Must have been a crossed post. Not sure about the colours on that set but will see what else they’ve got.

I will check out Beauty Pie again. I don’t want her to have to pay towards it if she doesn’t want to IYSWIM

I’d love a Neom candle but I’m not sure whether she likes candles. Now can’t recall her ever talking about them Confused She probably does

Very different but my other idea was one of those water bottles that has gems in the bottom...

Housewife2010 · 27/05/2020 07:36

I wouldn't bother with Beauty Pie. I'm a member but it would mean she would have to pay for her items. The prices are higher at the moment too. Far nicer to give her a gift to open. M&S are releasing another of their beauty sets tomorrow. It's usually about £15 with a £40 spend on fashion & beauty. M&S sell lots of great brands. Why don't you buy her a bottle of the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse from there? The shimmery one would be extra special and they are both very summery. Get yourself something to make up to £40 and buy her the beauty set too. This year it's in a bag and has lots of great products.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/05/2020 07:47

Has she tried Fenty by Rhianna?

I'm not easily swayed by Celebs bringing out ranges , but my DD got one of the lipglosses and really likes it
She got a mini lipgloss and highlighter set too

They sell in Boots now

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 27/05/2020 07:49

Thanks for the info about Beauty Pie. I’ll look at the M&S set. Some times the sets are just full of minis but buying a full size item and getting something with it sounds nice. I don’t think I’d go for the oil for her but I do love Nuxe. I don’t know how I to skincare she is bit tempted to go for something different as I almost always buy make up for her.

She loved Fenty and she bought me the lip gloss and highlighter set for my birthday Grin

Clinique has some lovely products - their chubby sticks are fab and the almost there lipsticks are gorgeous. My dd (21) loves them. She also loves Clarins face scrubs.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 29/05/2020 14:44

I’ll look at those

Seems like a safe brand (in a good way) that she probably doesn’t have much of

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 29/05/2020 18:28

It's tricky isn't it. You want something fun and universal and not offensive

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 29/05/2020 21:18

I know I’ve got off on a tangent but thinking of buying this

www.benefitcosmetics.com/uk/en-gb/product/cheek-stars-reunion-tour-palette#&sku=TT822

OP posts:
Alsohuman · 29/05/2020 21:35

Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks are the bomb. Because they’re refillable she’ll always have it. I gave a friend one last year and she was ecstatic.

SouthWestmom · 29/05/2020 22:02

I don't love that Benefit palette - it doesn't look £50 worth.

Don't know Guerlain cosmetics

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 29/05/2020 22:16

@Alsohuman Guerlain is a lovely brand but I still have the issue with choosing a colour especially now when Id be buying it online

I like the Meteorites

@Noeuf What makes you say that? I think it’s definitely worth it because it’s five full size products and they are usually about £25 individually. There is 20% off at the moment by the way.

I’d love it for myself but that doesn’t mean she would love it, which is what makes gift giving so hard!

Other idea is an hourglass powder as I don’t think she has them but would only buy one as they must be about £45 on their own
