www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=67 931&parentcategoryrn=42344&productId=406941&langId=-1 - it is for a school reunion, we are going out to a nightclub but I want to wear something other than jeans + nice top. I am at the moment a size 16/18, but know topshop will be a small 16 so will lose weight, so will look abit different from my profile pic. I saw someone my size in strapless, and though it looked flattering but am not totally sure whether I'll look ok in it... please advise me style gurus!

MyTwo... it's a similar shape to a green tea dress I saw in topshop, except the tea dress was silky so would really show off my tyres! You don't think i'd look frumpy and old in that kinda dress?

OO, med. length would be ok I think, I am only 5'2", they usually skim the floor.

oliveoil · 19/09/2007 21:59

I think everyone looks better covered up and not flashing the flesh tbh

much classier

also it is farkin freezing, you would freeze

paolosgirl · 19/09/2007 21:59

How old are you?

Quootiepie · 19/09/2007 22:00

That blue silky top... evans (a shop I like because they are actuall for my size, not just a few sizes up if you get what I mean) had similar in green (obsessed with green!) but for a nightclub?

oliveoil · 19/09/2007 22:01

topshop do a personal shopper service iirc (or they do here) so why not go in and try stuff on

or go to a department store and say HELP

they will dig stuff out that you wouldn't normally buy

MyTwoDoubloonsWorth · 19/09/2007 22:01

ooh, I dunno....I'm old, which may be why it looks good to me.

Quootiepie · 19/09/2007 22:01

I am 21

You are all super for doing this for me, thankyou so so so much! I am very nervous about seeing old skinny winny school chums!

paolosgirl · 19/09/2007 22:02

Quootiepie · 19/09/2007 22:02

Jackstini · 19/09/2007 22:09

If you have good legs/cleavage and really like green you could try this www.asos.com/ASOS/Satin-Fluted-Sleeve-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=181390&cid=2631&clr=Green or what about this over some opaque (control!) tights? www.asos.com/Lindsay-Lohan/Asos/Asos-Premium-Silk-Deco-Embroidered-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=19 0607&cid=2631&clr=Black

Quootiepie · 19/09/2007 22:10

Now... if I didn't eat between now and Christmas...

Quootiepie · 19/09/2007 22:11

I LOVE that green dress, but I am not sure about my legs, I haven't had them out in decades. I guess they are pretty chunky, shaped though... but big.

you will probably shoot me, but I liked this - images.drct2u.com/content/product_huge_image.html?img=rimages.drct2u.com/content/images/produ cts/tq/tq505/p2xtq505xhuge.jpg but it may be too casual... although I thought about dressing it up somehow. Metallic seems to be in.

oliveoil · 19/09/2007 22:14

I say black trousers, heels (and no faffing about with kitten either proper ones please) and a top

am off to bed due to being old and decrepit tired
