Does anyone want to play virtual wedding dress shopping with me?

I was so looking forward to doing this but obviously it’s all up in the air. We hadn’t booked a venue either so it might end up being very different to what we were talking about 🤔

I think my height might be a problem. I’m 5’3 and really cannot walk in heels.

I have bad acne on my back so backless is a no go. I’d prefer sleeves too.

I’m a size 8 but look very young (round cheeks!) so do not want to look like I’m making my First Holy Communion.

Really not keen on most short dresses...

Any ideas?

I’m no good at links, but I’ll join in. I can bring wine and cake!

What styles do you like? do you like a slim fitting hourglass silouhette (think oscar dress) or an empire line with full fluffy skirt?

which celebrity style is your favourite?

trying to get a handle on what your style is before I suggest!

WhyAreJigsawsSOHard · 15/05/2020 10:05

I think something slim fitting but possibly still flowy. I loved Megan Markle’s. Also Pippa’s bridesmaid dress. Am I too small for something like that though?

I have no boobs or bum but I have a small waist.

Some in monsoon are flowy. What budget do you have?

WhyAreJigsawsSOHard · 15/05/2020 10:09

Collision that is gorgeous! I would definitely try that one on.

We had initially planned for a big hotel wedding. My budget then was about 2k.

We’d really rather get married sooner rather than later though, and with all the postponements we might not get dates for a few years. It might end up being just a small Mass and a meal or something, and in that scenario I’m not spending that much.

These are very simple- not sure how you feel about halter neck but halters usually cover your back area.

Personally i love lace too- like this one

I love that first one. Is she 6 feet tall though?!

I’m a bit funny about lace. I feel frumpy in it.

She's probably 8 foot tall and a size 00 hehe!

Try www.shopstyle.co.uk
you type in what you want eg "column wedding dress" and it will list all the websites that sell that description. One good thing is that normal online shops are now selling wedding dresses so you dont have to pay thousands anymore or go to specialist places

Oooh. It’s like a grown up Stardoll 😂

Try Needle and Thread - their dresses are beautiful. This is my particular favourite.

Zisforstripyoss · 15/05/2020 21:25

btw, some of their "maxi dresses" not advertised as wedding dresses would do beautifully for a wedding dress.

Have a look on the Coast website at their occasion wear. They have a half price sale at the moment. You don’t say if you want white or not but if not this is lovely and only £74.50

I don't think your height is a problem. I'm 5'3 and my height didn't factor into my decision at all - I always intended to have my chosen dress taken up/tailored anyway. Also I think 5'3 is pretty average. Go for whatever style you think best suits and get it altered if necessary.

Dizzybet74 · 24/05/2020 18:32

Maybe a halter neck style would suit your frame. Have a think about what neckline suits you (classic boatneck in a crisp ivory looks fab), sleeve length/style and then work from there.

Have a look at queen letizia's wedding dress
It was gorgeous xx

Tomasinabombadil · 24/05/2020 19:40

For shoes have a look at 'Irregular Choice', they have some gorgeous fun colourful designs, wedding styles too. Their medium height heel is really comfy for all day wear, I can vouch for that being someone who only wears flat shoes & boots everyday. I've worn Irregular Choice at the weddings of two friends and was comfortable for 12 hours which included dancing too. FlowersFlowers

Do you ever watch 'say yes to the dress' ? That's like a catwalk of wedding dress styles though, for me, most are way OTT.

whitechocolatespaceegg · 24/05/2020 21:07

Don't go for a short dress, it'll make you look shorter. My sister got married last year and is 5ft. I went with her to pick a dress so heard a lot of advice! She got hers altered no problem. I'll try and find a photo.

This is the one she had. Has 3/4 sleeves and a covered back. It's stunning.
