Oasis & Warehouse - what will happen to all the stock?

My two favourite shops are no more, gutted! The only places I could reliably order anything online and know that it would fit me. Obviously more important is the poor people who will lose their jobs from this.
I was wondering though, what happens to all the stock they must have?

Funny I was wondering the same earlier. I will miss both shops as I would usually find something I liked and the stuff fitted well. This has to be the worst time to lose your job.

FreakStar · 30/04/2020 15:42

I suspect the stock will be sold off when lockdown ends and they'll have some sort of closing down sale. There's still hope for them to be bought by someone-else though and reopen, maybe with a reduced amount of shops, or kept as a concession only brand in shops like john lewis and next.

I just bought an Oasis summer coat on John lewis.

Handsnotwands · 30/04/2020 15:44

it'll turn up on everything5pounds (i hope)

GrimDamnFanjo · 30/04/2020 16:50

TKMaxx?

Blownaway22 · 30/04/2020 17:23

Can’t find it now but am sure I read in the Fail earlier that all stock has been purchased (? maybe by a Chinese company) but not the stores. And possibly that the poor staff won’t get any redundancy payments.

Blownaway22 · 30/04/2020 17:26

Apologies, didn’t get that a hundred percent right but here’s a link www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8273433/More-1-800-jobs-set-lost-Oasis-Warehouse.html

gower4 · 30/04/2020 18:00

I'm so upset about this. End of an era.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 30/04/2020 19:08

The stock and IP rights will be sold and someone else will run the brand, probably online only and/or with concessions but not stand alone stores.

redroses86 · 30/04/2020 19:51

I’m gutted too for exactly the same reasons. The only two places I could reliably order my size and know it fits. And also not have to worry about odd/cheap materials or weird fitting.
I really don’t know where I’m going to find clothes.

@TheWayOfTheWorld do you mean they will still sell online but through another company? I do hope so. Presumably there’s going to be a lot of stock that could do with selling and I’d like to buy it!

Next has Oasis and Warehouse in its stores and online. They will probably absorb some of it?

doobiedop · 30/04/2020 20:42

I'm really going to miss Warehouse, thought they were good at doing grown up fashion.

RaggieDolls · 30/04/2020 20:52

I will particularly miss the next day delivery at Oasis. I really liked Oasis.

Snowymascot · 30/04/2020 22:56

I too will miss warehouse and oasis, there are no other places to buy decent clothes at reasonable prices. Next can be a bit hit & miss I think, and sometimes the clothes are frumpy, everywhere else is either cheap rubbish or clothes for teens or 20’s.
I was so hoping they would be able to save the stores and feel really sorry for the people who have lost their jobs, don’t understand why someone has bought all the stock, and why aren’t they selling online.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 30/04/2020 23:23

@Littlemiss74 - the website etc would stay the same, but someone else would own it and the stock.

Puppylucky · 30/04/2020 23:24

Brand Alley has recently been selling a lot of warehouse stock - perhaps that's where it will end up

ouch321 · 30/04/2020 23:33

That article says Hilco is buying the stock. Who knows what they will do with it. If anyone finds out do update please.

Warehouse does lovely down to earth stuff, I see it as a level up from H and M or New Look but it's not too trend led like Topshop or River Island.

bingowingsmcgee · 30/04/2020 23:34

Totally end of an Era! Really thought they'd survive.

Toffeewhirl · 30/04/2020 23:40

One of my favourite shops. And I was given an Oasis voucher as a present a few months ago, which I hadn't got round to spending yet...

TheWayOfTheWorld · 01/05/2020 08:44

@ouch321 because the business has gone bust the buyer will acquire the individual bits of it which are worth something rather than the whole company with everything in it (which will include debts and shop leases they don't won't) so the stock, the website, the designs, the Oasis and Warehouse names etc - and most likely the online customer won't notice any real difference, certainly not straight away.

Snowymascot · 01/05/2020 09:19

TheWayOfTheWorld would we just need to keep an eye on the websites to see when we can order then? I had tried to order a load of stuff on the morning before they went into administration but my order got cancelled.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 01/05/2020 11:10

The website isn't open for sales at the moment but yes, definitely keep an eye on it.

There will be an official announcement that there is a new owner - it will be reported on in the papers I'm sure.

TeaChocKitKat · 01/05/2020 19:29

I was really hoping they would survive even if just online or with fewer stores. I'm gutted. I'll really miss oasis in particular. A lot of my clothes are from there. I don't really know where I'm going to shop in future as it leaves a real gap in the market.

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 19:30

Horrendous for staff getting no redundancy pay.
