Lob it off or no?

Hairdressers are opening soon where I live.

Throughout confinement (it's been quite a while here), I dreamed of chopping off my longer hair into a lob. I think it will be about 5 inches off. I'm quite shy and conservative about my appearance (don't like dramatic changes and really don't like attracting attention). Should I do it?

Has anyone else made the same change and liked or loathed it? Any advice?

I'm worried my face is a bit fat for something shorter, though.

It grew out a little so when I went to get a trim today I said let's go around the collarbone (about 2cm. shorter than last time). Well I don't think he knows what the collarbone is, he lopped a load off!

Feels so short. Am paranoid my face now looks like a bloated moon.

Should have left it as it was! BlushConfused

It honestly looks fabulous! Even better than the first cut and it frames your face in a flattering way. I’ve got ages to wait for a haircut yet and I’m super jealous of how good yours looks.

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/06/2020 16:54

It’s gorgeous! Fun, fresh, light, very pretty and suits you perfectly. He knew what he was doing! Grin

I’m tempted to follow your lead, I’m rocking a mega mane at the moment which takes forever to wash and dry and it’s so heavy and thick now the layers have grown out I have it up most of the time anyway.

Chochito · 16/06/2020 17:19

Thank you. I've never had it so short. I was freaking out massively. And still am...my be is totally naked.

But I think it looks ok. And then sometimes I worry about the fat face thing.

My neck* is totally naked.

Haha, you’ll get used to the “It’s SO SHORT!” feeling, trust me. A couple of days and you will be used to it. And if the weather is hot you’ll be glad of the naked neck -
I’m the opposite right now it’s driving me mad feeling hair on my neck and back especially as it’s the summer and quite humid. It looks wayyyyyyy better than just ok, it’s gorgeous!

kingkuta · 16/06/2020 17:58

I love it OP. Is it naturally curly or have you tonged it?

Chochito · 16/06/2020 18:06

Thanks. 😳😳 My hair is naturally straight. Waves are ghds and 3 products

OP posts:
kingkuta · 16/06/2020 19:32

Can I ask what products you use? I have similar length and texture of hair and really like the style

Chochito · 16/06/2020 20:00

I am so sorry, I don't know. The hairdresser sprayed like a light conditioner before drying then after ghd-ing the waves a little bit of a light oil afterwards on her fingers and then normal hairspray. My hair is fine but there is quite a lot of it and it is straight. I guess I will see what I want to do when I wash it myself.

I definitely can't do ghd waves as I am cackhanded and the back is too short for my very limited skills.

Sorry, missed a photo. This is how he left the back.

It really really suits you, you look years younger and very stylish, love the colour

fridaytreats · 20/06/2020 09:47

It really suits you. You haven't got a fat face. When you get older you will look back at your photos and wonder why you were self critical.

Chochito · 20/06/2020 23:07

Thanks! I would love to look younger. 40 feels old, I just wonder where the time has gone.

Anyone who has a bob/lob, do you prefer it wavy or straight? Or curly?

And is that your natural texture, or how do you style it to your preference?

FenellaMaxwell · 22/06/2020 20:58

Oh the shortest one looks great!! If you want GHD type waves then try headband curls. If you do it on damp hair and sleep on it, it takes well.

Cabin · 22/06/2020 21:01

The shortest one looks best! Lobs can look a bit nondescript and inbetweeny if they grow out, whereas a bob will last a while. The waves and bounce of shorter and lighter hair really frame your face nicely too.

Healthquestion101 · 22/06/2020 21:03

Your latest shotter cut looks very beautiful..

Chochito · 22/06/2020 21:21

Hi, thank you all so much! That's so kind.

I meant in your own hair, do you prefer to style your bob/lob wavy or straight or curly?

FenellaMaxwell How do I do headband curls, please?

It looks lovely!! How are you finding styling it yourself??

I felt 'old' at 40 too, but Jesus Christ please make the most of your 40's. 50 is nasty. 😢

Chochito · 25/06/2020 19:23

My hair is straight and I am lazy so I wash and leave. It looks a bit flat on the day (or two) when it needs a wash, when normally I would wash it, but I'm not going out anywhere! I can go 4 days with it looking good.

I can't do waves properly at all, I have no skills for any kind of hair or make up. I'll get it cut in another 2 weeks and then they will style it with curls or something for a change.

Sorry for super zoom, I'm wearing quite unique clothes in the shot Blush
