Which trainers are 'cool'. Please help me. I'm clueless.

ds1 really really wants cool trainers.

Unfortunatly, he can't tell me WHICH are the 'right' ones, due to his level of communication and understanding. He just knows nike and adidas, but there's loads of different types even within those 2 brands. He really wants to be like the other boys, but I don't know which are the 'in' shoes.

I have the chance to buy some nike total 90 iii tf (which look no bloody different than the ones you can get for a fiver down the market, except for a ruddy tick on the side, which I could do with a damn permanent marker ffs....but I digress.

He is different in so many ways, and this is so important to him that I don't want to mess up. (Even though I object to Labels and am doing this through gritted teeth, lol)

Shop assistants would just try to sell me the most expensive, or one they got a better deal from or something.

What shoe is the hot one in the playground for the average 8 year old?

right hang on - ds1 is 7 and very cool ( I blame his dad) will have a look at which trainers he has currently.

The other day he asked "Is X (meaning himself) poor?"

That could only have come from school.

It's hard to question him without leading him iyswim, but he did say 'trainers and shoes'

I think it's horrible that kids feel such pressure to have a certain brand.

I'm not convinced my 8 year old DD would have a CLUE what was cool in trainerworld!

HMM I have to say for a 7 / 8 year old, what we would consider cool is rather different to what his peers would.

They would usually approve of the most garish clompy ones!

but he has just had these for his birthday which are not known as conventional sport trainers so maybe these are 'cool' as well?

apparently they are more 'skater wear' - he saw his uncle in a pair and thought they were cool so uncle brought him some for birthday.

but i think you cant go wrong with nike or adidas and can get some good bargains at JD sports or JJB sports. you can get a cool pair for around £20
