How long can you leave your hair unwashed!

Not as icky as it sounds, but I could go a week. Just wondered if people leave it longer and could it make the condition better? I thought since I'm home, better try and improve my condition all over!

Does no one else’s hair smell when left?
Mine minus after 2 days and is quite greasy.

Trichinella · 11/04/2020 14:00

*mings - damn autocorrect!

pingu777 · 11/04/2020 14:02

I do mine once a week! Dry shampoo in between when I'm in the office but right now there's no point...

phyllidia · 11/04/2020 14:14

Once a week.

Don't use dry shampoo/product.

Only the last day would it not be suitable for the office.

Doesn't smell.

ClientQ · 11/04/2020 14:17

4-5 days. I don't use shampoo, it mostly goes fuzzy/less curly rather than greasy

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 11/04/2020 14:22

I never wash my hair.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/04/2020 14:30

How long did it take before you never had to wash it?

Mlou32 · 11/04/2020 14:33

Mine used to he ok leaving it for 2 or 3 days. But since getting a keratin treatment/Brazilian blow dry, it needs washed every day.

Ruddle91 · 11/04/2020 14:34

Very dry hair - 7 days easy.

Ruddle91 · 11/04/2020 14:34

Have done 3 weeks before when bedbound due to severe pneumonia - it didn't look any worse at 3 weeks than 1.

userabcname · 11/04/2020 14:47

Every 2 days. Longer when pregnant and it looks glorious! I'm in the scraggly, post-natal hair loss phase currently so quite glad I don't have to leave the house.

Blondiney · 11/04/2020 14:57

A week and a half, easily. My hair is thick, textured and generally a pain in the arse but I do appreciate how low maintenance it is. To be honest I'd lose the will to live if I had to fuck about with it every day.

WatchingFromTheWings · 11/04/2020 14:59

I have to wash it every day. I workout/run 5 or 6 days a week tho so it gets too sweaty to leave any longer. Even if I don't workout I have to do it everyday.

PickAChew · 11/04/2020 14:59

About 2 days. Currently 48 hours from my last wash and it doesn't look greasy but my scalp is getting sticky and smelly.

Gallade · 11/04/2020 15:32

I hate saying this but I get dandruff, I can't get rid of the fucker. Right at the bloody front above my forehead only, weirdly. So I have to wash it every other day. I've tried leaving it longer and it's horrible.

Gallade · 11/04/2020 15:32

The dandruff only started last summer by the way. No idea why. Confused

lotusbell · 11/04/2020 15:45

3 days, 4 absolutely maximum. I have very dense hair so my scalp holds onto sweat and I get that horrible sweaty head smell. Because it's so thick and I have so much off, it doesn't really get greasy or look greasy but my scalp itches if I leave it too long. I have it thinned with thinning scissors when I go to the hairdresser and I know it needs a cut when it starts taking me longer to wash my hair, can be about 10.minutes just getting all the shampoo rinsed then the conditioner.

Ponks · 11/04/2020 16:57

I feel grim if I don't wash my hair at least every other day.
These people who leave it a week or more .. do you work out or run and get sweaty?

Cheerbear23 · 11/04/2020 17:02

I’ve been trying to extend the amount of time I can leave it. I’ve got it to every 3 days, but it’s minging by the end of day 3. Greasy, smelly and my scalp feels horrible. However after I’ve washed it, it’s much nicer than when I used to wash it every day.

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 11/04/2020 17:04

It used to be about 4 days, day 4 being tied up and looking OK...ish.

Since I've had the kids, 2 days max, by bedtime on day 2, you can fry chips!

thisenglishlife · 11/04/2020 19:03

I wash three times a week now, but when I used to wash it once a week, it didn't get sweaty, smelly or greasy.

I don't get body sweat either when I run/exercise. I have dry skin.

Eesha · 11/04/2020 19:46

@Ponks for my sins, I never work out! I'm only leaving mine like this as an experiment to see what will happen. It hasn't been itching or anything so I'm curious to see whether it will be in greater condition when it is actually washed!!

Kintsugi16 · 11/04/2020 20:40

Kintsugi16 · 11/04/2020 20:41

I work out regularly and wear a cycle helmet
