Is it possible to get a coat with a hood which is not frumpy????

It has just occured to me that I am going to need a coat to wear to walk to and from school as DS2 is in a pushchair and I will not be able to take an umbrella.

Does anyone know where I can get a stylish and warm coat with a hood?

Will be able to spend about £70.

I've got a good Bench coat with a hood, very long and fur all round the edges... pretty warm and doesn't look frumpy at all.

Have just ordered the brown/blue spot!

Hopefully DH wont take the fact that it was £71 too badly!

Thank you for the tip off about the Lands End coat for £25. Have just ordered it. Just hope it fits!

the only thing to note with those squall coats is that if you wash them you will need to re-proof them eg with nikwax. I have not done mine and it leaks like a sieve. Warm though.

MrsBadger · 11/09/2007 08:35

wash them in Tech Wash

Does the Boden one have a hood?
I am on a similar desperate quest - I saw this one in the Kew catalogue today but due to domestic finacial crisis can no longer afford. It ticks all my boxes though, knee-length, warm, hooded, relatively rain proof.

okay I have ordered bargainous pink squall parka MrsB

god it had better be good

if it is you will be my favourite person forever as I wander the cold wet streets of North Lancs

nb rosa I have a horrible feeling that kew one is not rainproof at all so do not feel too bad

RosaLuxembourg · 11/09/2007 17:54

Thanks MrsB, that makes me feel better! Promised myself a new winter coat this year but will have to wait till January so time to hunt down the perfect one.

Keep an eye out for French Connection - I haven't looked at their Winter stuff yet, but I think their coats are invariably good - tho the rest of their stuff can be dodgyesque. Might have to stretch to £100 tho?????

JackieNo · 11/09/2007 18:05

Not waterproof, but MrsB - are you still on the lookout for a coat? Saw this in the White Stuff Catalogue the other day. But not sure you're a pattern person?
