a pic of a cool, stylish wedding dress pls.

I'm dark blonde, 5 ft 4 and a 12/14...but will be a 12 (honest)...

lace up backs even!

pooka · 10/09/2007 19:28

Re: your rack. Have you been measured lately? ONly that if you're a 12/14 I bet you're not really a 38C, but more likely a 34DD or similar.
There was a recent fab thread about getting properly fitted for a bra. I used to think I was a 38B. Am now a 32DD, and am also a 12/14 with a broadish back. Bravissimo excellent for fitting.
Not really wedding related, but do check it out because a good bra makes an enormous difference just generally.

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 10/09/2007 21:02

Lace up backs lead to back fat in all but the most toned of brides ime.

Agree with Pooka re boobs. Get measured somewhere decent then go trying on.

I have to say IMO (and only my opinion) if you want to look stylish and classy have sleeves on your dress. At least some but long ones would be fabulous and such a contrast to the contant stream of strapless.

I think cap sleeves a bit young for most brides over about 25 tbh.

A friend of mine had a tulle sleeved coat over her dress and it was gorgeous.

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 08:26

...okay thanks for the advice....
now i feel a bit old and wrinkled to be a bride....

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 11/09/2007 08:47

do not think 'old and wrinkled', think 'elegant and sophisticated'

lacy but subtle, hides arms well
ditto

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 09:03

they are beautiful mrs B...

MrsBadger · 11/09/2007 09:14

see?
and a million miles from most of the ten-a-penny Maggies
another idea

Really, make some appointments. Take a mate. It's like getting the dressing-up box out, only for grown-ups.

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 11/09/2007 09:26

The lace coat is fabulous. In fact all of the lacey shrug things gorgeous.

Don't feel too old. I was 25 and had a halterneck it was nice at the time. I am 34 now and see some amazingly sophisticated gowns around and I am jealous I can't do it again now I have more style and confidence!

A lot of dresses look faintly ridiculous unless you are a child bride i think!

Get nice undies on and go and have a play in the biggest dress shop you can find. Try on the most outlandish dresses you can find! It is great fun!

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 10:03

Thank you - I'm serioulsy considering some tye of coat/sleeves to cover upper arms...still feeling a bit past my prime now which has killed a bit of the excitement...

OP posts:
ProjectIcarusinhercar · 11/09/2007 10:36

Bollocks to past your prime. Sleeves to be a bit different because every one and their dog has sleeveless not to cover your arms because you are over 25 .

There are loads of twee dresses araound which fit the fairy princess bill but make adult women look silly.

IME most people who go for corset backs get carried away and lace them too tight leading to an erm overhang at the back which they can't see but everyone behind them in the church/registrars can. They are v pretty though I would think if fitted well could look fantastic.

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 10:38

does this work today?

OP posts:
ProjectIcarusinhercar · 11/09/2007 12:09

I like the lacy bits but I personally can't do asymmetrical.

the other isue with strapless is you look nekkid in closeups.....

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 12:28

they were nice...don't think a straightish dress would do my hips any favours though...

I do know what you mean about strapless, until we decided to get married i never knew how popular strapless corset dresses are these days!!

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 11/09/2007 12:36
