What do you notice?

Someone once told me they always notice people's teeth! I have to say I couldn't say what most people's teeth are like or even tell you their eye colour! I tend to look at everything overall. What do you always notice (or not) in others?

Skin: young, glowing, plump, blemish-free skin makes me wistful for the days when mine was like that.

Hair: the longer and thicker the better

Eyelashes: the longer and darker the better

Slimness: just that

TrueFriendsStabYouInTheFront · 05/03/2020 20:14

Skin, make up, hair (condition rather than style or colour, bizarrely!) in that order

Bella2020 · 05/03/2020 20:45

Hair, then handbags

Supersimkin2 · 05/03/2020 20:50

Eyelashes - I love the long ones. Hands, hair.

The arse.

Gwenhwyfar · 05/03/2020 21:10

Hair. I barely notice other things. If someone I knew, but not too well, was wearing a wig I might not even recognise them.
Don't notice teeth unless there's something different about them, don't notice shoes unless they're wildly inappropriate, not very interested in nails.

bingowingsmcgee · 05/03/2020 23:48

Make up skill, or lack of

CuriousCapricorn · 05/03/2020 23:58

Eyebrows and nails for me!

I have got much less interested in shoes as one got older ( am 42 )

Also I really notice smells, perfume or laundry being nice and sometimes bad smells which are horrible. I have a nose like a fox and can sniff out perfumes very well.

PickAChew · 06/03/2020 00:01

Odour.

SwedishEdith · 06/03/2020 00:07

God, I hardly notice anything. Maybe a big smile, good posture, and glossy hair and bright eyes.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/03/2020 09:47

I always notice people''s teeth, in a positive or negative way. Otherwise I notice people's overall style, and in particular bold lipsticks.

LadyMadderRose · 06/03/2020 09:54

I notice if women have cool short hair as I'm always looking for ideas for mine. I also tend to notice anything interesting like nice nails, tattoos or an edgy print or boots, or people who have their own style. It can be tiny details like a bit of gold eyeshadow or a ring.

Yet what I always FAIL to notice is height and boobs. Sometimes a friend I've known for ages will moan about being short or having too small/too big boobs and I've honestly never noticed! It's weird.

MikeUniformMike · 06/03/2020 11:56

Teeth and shoes.

dellacucina · 06/03/2020 12:00

This is fascinating! As a person who never gets my nails done (though I keep them clean and tidy) and who basically never wears makeup these days, I must get a lot of silent judgement Blush

bubblesforlife · 06/03/2020 12:06

Hmmmm
Figure, rings, and nice skin, I always get jealous of people with nice skin.

I notice clothes if they’re wearing something I really like, or something I really don’t. Otherwise I’m oblivious and unobservant.

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/03/2020 12:14

It makes me paranoid seeing the things people notice here.

RuthW · 06/03/2020 12:16

Glasses.

Pipandmum · 06/03/2020 12:16

Hair first and general grooming. Clothes - sloppy vs put together and coordinating.

Grembolina · 06/03/2020 12:18

Teeth, smell and figure.

I am not judging people by them, it's just what I notice.

I think the teeth comes from my own insecurity, I had terrible teeth for a long time and was so conscious of them. Took adult braces and double jaw surgery for me to not think about them.

CountFosco · 06/03/2020 12:59

There are different kinds of noticing. I love shoes and always check out people's shoes and comment if I like them. But if someone has boring shoes on that doesn't make me think anything negative about them.

I also notice if someone has on makeup or has dyed their hair. That makes me think about societal expectations on women and how we do these things to try and make ourselves look acceptable and yet it doesn't actually make us more attractive. But the judgement is on society not the individual.

There is also the noticing we do but don't admit to ourselves because we do make judgements based on it. Like smell, slimness, how articulate someone is, sex, skin colour, country of origin etc. All the unconscious bias stuff that in some people come out as racism or sexism etc.
