Bought my prestige just before Xmas and started at new year , at first I thought it wasn’t working but about 4-5 cycles in now and bikini area is about 80% hair free and legs just have the odd patches left , I’m confident that in a month or so I will be hair free 😀.
Best £250 ever spent and completely life changing not scraping away at my legs daily . I’m excited to put fake tan on and not have it removed all summer by shaving .

Just used the advanced for the first time today

I'm worried I'm not flashing close enough to each other but it says you mustn't flash the same area twice Confused anxiety is telling me this isn't going to work!

Also, it pains me that I can't use it on my toes!

Ninkanink · 05/03/2020 16:34

I have to say I have made the decision to flash very close together (overlapping a little each time to allow for the edge of plastic around the window); so far I’ve had no problems with my skin reacting badly. I imagine that once in a while small areas of skin are being flashed twice, but I’m extremely good at estimating area so I reckon most of the time I’m not hitting the same spot. However I must make it clear that this is against the instructions and if anyone else tries it and overlaps too much or too often they might have adverse reactions. Everyone’s skin is different.

It’s not that it won’t work if you’re out missing bits, it’ll just take longer and more treatments for the whole area to be hair free, so I wouldn’t worry. You’ll likely work out your own way of making fairly sure you’ve covered everything.

I work my way up and down my legs, rather than going top to bottom or vice versa each time, so that I can keep a fairly good idea of where I’ve already been.

ichifanny · 05/03/2020 19:21

Yes you will eventually work out over the treatments what you are missing and the probability is that you will get it all eventually .

I agree with PP @Mummoomoocow re overlapping. I do it without any ill effects. I also zap my toes. There is no reason why you can’t (unless the hair is the ‘wrong’ colour, of course).

Mummoomoocow · 06/03/2020 12:21

Maybe that's a benefit of the prestige over the advanced? I can't get the ready light to come on because it wants the whole window to be filled with skin whereas my toes are obviously not big enough

Mummoomoocow · 06/03/2020 12:23

It's good to hear about overlapping and getting used to it Grin I do wonder what irritation looks like from the Lumea though

Ninkanink · 06/03/2020 12:41

It’d look like sun damage/burns, I’d imagine.

Have you tried holding the window so it’s along the length of your toe rather than the width?

EthelMayFergus · 06/03/2020 12:41

I love mine, I've had it for about a year and just use it every couple of months now. The best of it is that it looks like the area hasn't been shaved - you know how armpits look when freshly shaved? My armpits now look the same as the skin below them, as if they are just naturally hair free.

Does anyone else worry about the light damaging their eyes? I turn my head away and close my eyes but still have the red flash and worry a bit about it.

EntirelyAnonymised · 06/03/2020 13:19

Yes, I turn the window for toes and sort of press/squish the flesh to fill the window.

Mummoomoocow · 06/03/2020 14:33

I'll have to give it another go Grin thanks guys

Prepenultimate · 06/03/2020 15:21

I'd advise anyone thinking of purchasing to do their research thoroughly. It is an expensive purchase and There are loads of limitations and dos and don'ts- skin colour/ hair colour/ tanning/ using moisturiser / health conditions/ certain areas of the body / battery care etc etc
I have found it great for bikini line but not really effective on legs, and I can't use it on underarms because I use a long lasting antiperspirant.

EntirelyAnonymised · 06/03/2020 16:17

I’m pretty sure Philips offer a 100 day return policy, so if it isn’t what you want, just return it as per their t&cs

sausageandmashandbeans · 12/03/2020 19:38

According to the instructions, I should be using it on a 4/5. 3 is as much as I can bear. Anybody like this too and is it working for you?

Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget · 12/03/2020 19:59

I put off buying one for years because of the price but took the plunge one year and paid £300...best money ever spent!!! I used to shave in the morning and have stubble by that night.last year I went away for 2 weeks and didn’t have to touch any leg hairs once!

Mummoomoocow · 13/03/2020 00:44

I found the hairs at different areas needed different settings. I did 5 for my legs and 4 for my inner thighs and it was really zappy at my bikini line and ankles. Armpits were zappy at 4 but I worried it wouldn't work at 3

noodlezoodle · 13/03/2020 18:28

I really want one of these but I live in the US and for some weird reason they don't sell them here. I'm tempted to just get one from the UK but I'm wondering if the voltage will be a problem or whether it will be fine if I use a plug converter.

Googling has not helped answer this question so in the unlikely event that anyone has used one in the States, I'd love to know!
