I’m nearly 40, can I wear this?

For a night out? Meal and drinks.
I’d wear it with black opaques, black ankle boots and blacker leather biker jacket.
It’s a playsuit in case it isn’t clear.

I like it but don’t want to risk looking like a tit. I don’t get out much.

I am probably going to get lit up for this but personally I don’t think I would. I think it’s more for someone in their 20’s or early 30’s - of course if you like it then wear what you like!

I think it’s the pattern, if it was more plain it would be more sophisticated

Haggisfish · 20/02/2020 10:42

Yes you can

Surfer25 · 20/02/2020 10:44

I wouldn't but then I I don't have the legs for it.

If you do then why not.

An overweight 20 year old would worse than a slim 40 year old in that

Age isnt the only factor

SantanaBinLorry · 20/02/2020 10:44

Im 45. Id wear it, its lovely. If you've got the legs and the confidence go for it! (wear red lipstick too ;) )

EmmaSt55 · 20/02/2020 10:46

100%. Wear what makes you feel good!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 20/02/2020 10:49

Of course you can; you'll look fab Smile How about a bright red lipstick too?

I'm 53, with legs to die for —see username Grin I'll have it when you're done with it.

Have a great evening.

Eminybob · 20/02/2020 10:51

Thanks.
It is the length that makes me doubt myself, I wouldn’t wear a dress that short. But I do wear short shorts and playsuits in the summer, with bare legs so I don’t know what I’m worried about really.
I do have reasonable legs (I think!)

12 on bottom, 14 on top I should say.

Dark tights are as good as trousers! Definitely wear it, sounds like a lovely outfit.

millmoo · 20/02/2020 10:58

Go for it ! It looks really nice ! Where is it from ?

partygamer · 20/02/2020 10:59

That’ll be grand!

Eminybob · 20/02/2020 10:59

H&M

Faceicle · 20/02/2020 10:59

I'm your size and a bit older. I'd wear it, and I second the red lippy suggestion. Hope you feel great and have fun!

TSSDNCOP · 20/02/2020 11:03

Yes, styled the way you describe it’ll be great.

Andtwomakesix · 20/02/2020 11:06

I'm about to turn 40 and I would. I wear similar on nights out and i feel smart rather than dressed like a young one!

Itwasntme1 · 20/02/2020 11:23

If you feel confident and comfortable in it then wear it.

Magicshoppingtrolley · 20/02/2020 11:29

I’m over 40 and I would. In fact I’m off to have a look on the H&M website now.

Myshitisreal · 20/02/2020 11:34

I love it 😍 I'm 41 and would wear it exactly as styled but will very clumpy boots and very thick (thermal) black tights. Would you post a pic, I'm sure it will be fabulous 😁.

Myshitisreal · 20/02/2020 11:35

I would also add a necklace if you have one to suit. I have a big sparkly heart like titanic necklace, it's black leather and silver and sparkly but I guess it depends what you have

INeedNewShoes · 20/02/2020 11:36

Yes!

Floisme · 20/02/2020 11:37

I despise whoever it was who first thought 'playsuit' was an appropriate word for a garment worn by a grown woman.

Now I've got that off my chest, I'm a bit uneasy that you've said you wouldn’t wear a dress that short. I know a divided skirt offers more ease of movement but I would say the coverage is about the same. I think the question to ask is whether you'll be tugging at the hemline all evening. If 'no' then go forth and enjoy.

JenNtonic · 20/02/2020 11:43

Absolutely do it! Gorgeous xx

Eminybob · 20/02/2020 12:05

Just realised the typo in the op. The jacket is no blacker than the other accessories Grin
