If you had £200 to treat yourself, what would you buy?

I have £200 of birthday money and I really want to treat myself but I am not sure what to buy.

I was thinking of purchasing a GHD curling wand as all my other curling wands are pretty rubbish but I am not sure on whether it is worth money (£120-ish).

If you had £200 to treat yourself, how would you spend it?

Thank you!

If I had it right now I would spend it on Chantecaille make up, save it to put towards an Aspinal handbag, or buy the ghd glide. Or maybe some footwear - a pair of Chelsea boots from Timberland, or a pair of suede boots for spring/summer.

Honeybee85 · 07/02/2020 14:14

Byredo La Tulipe perfume
Chanel eyeshadow palette in Blurry Green
A lovely pair of Ancient Greek Sandals for summer

Botox. Mine desperately needs doing and I can't afford it at the mo SadSad

Sooverthemill · 07/02/2020 14:52

A cashmere sweater

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 15:03

@Sooverthemill dammit you reminded me of a cashmere jumper I want! Now I don’t know what to spend my hypothetical £200 on!

Floisme · 07/02/2020 15:34

If I had to be sensible, I would buy a load of new bras, or put it towards a sewing machine or my next pair of specs (prescription alone is over £200).

If I didn't have to be sensible, I'd put it towards some Margaret Howell trousers or something Vivienne Westwood, or an Equipment silk shirt.

userabcname · 07/02/2020 16:16

If I was going to blow it all on one purchase I'd opt for either new boots or a nice coat. If multiple I'd buy my favourite perfume, a nice jumper I've had my eye on and if there was any money left over then a moisturising everyday lipstick.

happytobemrsg · 07/02/2020 16:21

A really nice coffee machine

pangolina · 07/02/2020 16:26

I'd get some new biker boots. Mine have finally bitten the dust and need replacing.

ToftheB · 07/02/2020 16:45

A very luxurious Brora cashmere scarf and a pair of parachute trousers from uniqlo. I wish I did have £200 to spend - enjoy it OP Smile

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas so far. :)

I like the idea of purchasing a cashmere scarf. I am in my mid twenties and I feel like I am starting to shift in my consumer habits from quantity to quality purchases.

Some good quality boots and if there were any left over cash, a massage!

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 17:34

There’s nothing better than a cashmere scarf. So very soft and snuggly.

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/02/2020 17:36

To be fair, my GHD straighteners are celebrating at least a decade and still going touch wood so a good investment.

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 17:37

I’ve heard that ghd quality has gone down quite markedly in recent years. There’s another brand that’s better now, something with ghost in it, I think.

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 17:42

If you shop carefully (lots of good sales on atm), you might have enough money for a cashmere scarf and a lovely bag/pair of boots.

Letseatgrandma · 07/02/2020 17:44

I think I’d add to it and buy a Dyson hairdryer.

I had heard the recent GHDs are rubbish-such a shame, mine are still going strong from 2003!

Undies1990 · 07/02/2020 17:46

I think I would book myself a city break weekend away!

PersonaNonGarter · 07/02/2020 17:48

Some rock solid expensive-but-worth it foundation, concealer, powder, eyebrow pencil and blusher.

Or

Some amazing perfume by Byredo.

Consider getting an IPL machine if you don’t have one and you have hair/skin that would respond - they are life changing.

imarocketman50 · 07/02/2020 17:55

I've spent nearly that today as I need therapy of the retail sort. Bought 5 different lip products, some other makeup bits and a couple of items of clothing. Felt good after and can't wait to wear my new lip products (my weakness).

My ghd's are the best hair tool I ever got. Had mine for 14 years and still going strong. If they break replacing them wouldn't be a treat it would be a necessity.

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 18:03

I needed therapy of that kind today too Sad so I bought a silk scarf, a little bag and a resin bangle. All from Jigsaw.

I would buy some (more) Sheila Fleet jewellery, or decent make up

ThursdayLastWeek · 07/02/2020 18:08

I’m not sure it’s luxurious but I think I’d buy myself a Foreo blue light spot treatment thingy. It’s expensive which makes it feel luxurious!

But I might have just had my head turned turned by the phenomenal Woman scarf up there ^

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/02/2020 18:10

A Jigsaw leather jacket (wait for money off) or some lovely perfume and a pair of boots.

Legallybleachblonde · 07/02/2020 18:18

A black pebble Coach cross-body handbag. It's £250 so I would top that up 😊 I keep looking at it lol
