If you had £200 to treat yourself, what would you buy?

I have £200 of birthday money and I really want to treat myself but I am not sure what to buy.

I was thinking of purchasing a GHD curling wand as all my other curling wands are pretty rubbish but I am not sure on whether it is worth money (£120-ish).

If you had £200 to treat yourself, how would you spend it?

Thank you!

I'd buy theatre tickets or shoes or perfume.

My DD is 17 and pretty much buys whatever she wants, make up and clothes wise. She is still a student but works weekends and holidays and earns reasonable money so for birthdays and christmas I have started buying her "investment" pieces like a cashemere scarf for her birthday and a decent leather handbag for christmas. She has also had a lovely silver bangle and ruby ring from grandparents.

Those are the things I would spend your £200 on rather than botox (which apparently you need more and more of as treatment go on). Cashmere scarves, good wool coats, leather handbags and good jewellery have resale value and can be passed on.

My GHD’s give up last year replaced with Cloud 9 at Hairdressers recommendation. Worth every penny and I think it’s correct GHD’s not what they were.

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 20:29

Ah, Cloud 9! That’s the one I was thinking of - no idea where I got ‘ghost’ from... Hmm

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 07/02/2020 20:39

I’d buy some antique jewellery

HundredMilesAnHour · 07/02/2020 20:42

There's a beautiful coat from Palones that was just released today and I want it SO BADLY!!!! And it's exactly £200.

I got a preview of some of their new range a few weeks ago and it included the coat I'm obsessed with. On the hanger it was just ok but when I tried it on, it looked AMAZING!

It's taking all my self-discipline not to order it right now.

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 20:47

@HundredMilesAnHour are you the one who recommended a couple of fabulous shoe brands months ago on a thread? One might have been Miista and I’m sure there was another as well...I’ve been wanting to remember what it was!

Ninkanink · 07/02/2020 20:47

Also, buy the coat!!

Aderyn19 · 07/02/2020 20:59

I'm also saying buy the coat. It will haunt you forever if you find the perfect one and don't get it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/02/2020 21:09

Ooh a pair of NYDJ would take care of £150.

Then maybe a haircut/blow dry

Salene · 07/02/2020 21:13

Something from Holland cooper or Fairfax & favour

HundredMilesAnHour · 07/02/2020 21:27

@Ninkanink Yes that was me! Smile I'm guessing it was one of my favourite shoes brands so it could have been Neous? Or Rejina Pyo / Yuul Yie? Or Tracey Neuls? I think it was probably Neous. I was VERY excited about some Neous boots I'd got in the sales a few months ago. Blush

And yes, I've ordered the coat. Grin A lot of Palones pieces are limited edition (so only 100 pieces made) so I was freaking out that they'd sell out before I ordered.

This is it:

Trust me, it looks fabulous on!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/02/2020 21:29

I’d buy a new bottle of Byredo Bibliotheque perfume, and a nice candle.

HundredMilesAnHour · 07/02/2020 21:32

@Ninkanink While we're on the shoe subject, I managed to get these lovely Miista shoes in the sale last year. I have this style in 4 colours now and they look so chic. They're also my 'official' job interview shoes. Smile

Splodgetastic · 08/02/2020 09:46

Have you seen the GHD hot brushes? They are amazing. I’d even go so far as to say that mine has changed my life. Otherwise, I second Brora, but you may need to supplement your £200!

Sooverthemill · 08/02/2020 09:50

@HundredMilesAnHour those shoes are so beautiful!

Sparkle567 · 08/02/2020 09:56

Botox 😂

Ninkanink · 08/02/2020 10:39

@HundredMilesAnHour yes it was Neous! Thanks! I love the Miista aesthetic (thanks for bringing them to my attention, too) so I was sure I would love the other one you had mentioned as well.

Sadly I’ve not bought anything from them yet, was very tempted by some dark green boots in their winter season but I’m a little nervous that my feet might be too wide. Sad but I just love looking at beautiful shoes. Great sale buy, those shoes are so classy. Maybe I’ll try a pair for my birthday purchase (am supposed to be on a no-spend in March-April).

Ninkanink · 08/02/2020 10:54

Also the coat is fantastic! 👍

CountFosco · 08/02/2020 13:11

God those shoes are perfect.

Ninkanink · 08/02/2020 13:20

@CountFosco, aren’t they just? 😍😍

I’m sure you’ve recommended some fab brands too...in fact I think you may have been on the same thread as me and HundredMiles at the time.

Picassosdove · 08/02/2020 14:57

Sweaty Betty running and yoga leggings

slipperyeel · 08/02/2020 15:05

A missoma coin necklace or some Juliette Has a Gun perfume

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 08/02/2020 17:15

New lingerie from Agent Provocateur Smile

brightbluesky · 08/02/2020 18:03

I'm after a new silver bracelet, so that would take care of £150. The rest is spend on nice skin or hair products. Don't waste it on tat, which is what I would previously do!
