Doing a great blow dry on yourself

Can anyone do a great big bouncy curl blow dry on themself? I've got hair past my boobs and it looks so lovely after hairdressers but I can't seem to do it on myself. I can curl with straighteners but doesn't have the same oomph!

But I paid £30 so should probably just have paid the extra tenner for the real thing!

BitOfFun · 13/02/2020 00:18

Oh God, I'm going to bed before I buy The Revlon One Step Grin.

MyFavouritePlace · 18/02/2020 19:36

Came back to say I bought the Revlon One Step and for me it's been a game changer. I won't say that my hair is sleek but it is presentable. I followed Marnie Goldberg's instructions on YouTube and for the first time in years I can actually style my hair!!

Thanks for the recommendation.

Tempnamelady · 18/02/2020 19:56

Sold! Just ordered on boots, it’s on offer plus my 10 percent student discount so £35! I have the big hair and it’s ok but not amazing ! Excited 😆

Boireannachlaidir · 18/02/2020 20:02

Babyliss big hair is rubbish for fine hair. Not sure if the Revlon would benefit me or not. The only decent blow dry for me is from the salon or a Dyson.

queenbeeof3 · 18/02/2020 20:10

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor no damage at all!! WinkSmile

zippyswife · 18/02/2020 21:00

Is there room on the Revlon bandwagon?

mimiasovitch · 18/02/2020 21:57

Oops. Just spent my boots points Grin

twosoups1972 · 18/02/2020 22:28

Interesting thread. I’ve got a babyliss big hair which is ok but it’s quite damaging to my hair.

How is the Revlon one different?

RainWoman19 · 18/02/2020 22:32

Can we have some before and after pics..for the Revlon please?
I Babyliss big hair and im so dissapointed!

Duvetdweller · 18/02/2020 22:33

I bought the Revlon One Step on the back of this thread - it’s incredible! I got a blow dry once a week and I just don’t need to now. I blast it with the hair dryer and then go over it - takes about 10 minutes and I have really thick frizzy hair. I love it, thank you for the rec!!!

3catsandcounting · 19/02/2020 00:24

Tempted by the Revlon One Step, but my hair is above my shoulders and the barrel looks huge! Not sure it'd benefit me.
I have the Babylis Big Styler and it's ok, but not great.

pinkrocker · 19/02/2020 00:36

The pictures suggest that you roll your hair and put clips in after using, is that right? I don't really want to do that, I spent the 90s in velcro rollers!
I have the babyliss big hair rotating thing which gave me gigantic newsreader hair but the volume dropped within an hour Sad I then spent ££s on the babylis perfect curl MK2 which took almost an hour and gave me crispy hair Sad so that's left on the shelf unwanted too!

jcurve · 19/02/2020 09:42

@Boireannachlaidir I have really fine hair that goes limp easily and the Revlon One Step is amazing. I also found Tresemme Volumisng Blow Dry Creme which helps keep it all in shape.

SavageBeauty73 · 19/02/2020 14:35

I've just ordered the Revlon one step 🙏

CrowleysBentley · 19/02/2020 15:40

Would the revlon one step work for just above shoulder length hair? The brush bit looks really big. I have neck and shoulder problems, less time drying and styling would help me. Is it heavy though?

jcurve · 19/02/2020 16:02

@CrowleysBentley, I have just above shoulder length hair. The brush does look huge but the shape is what makes it good for hair our length. It’s not heavy - I can blow dry into a good style in about 7/8 minutes (my hair does dry quickly though, very fine but lots of it). I’m properly evangelical about it Grin

Tempnamelady · 19/02/2020 21:11

Mine arrived today and I see what people are saying about the barrel being huge! I’ll try it tomorrow.

olivehater · 19/02/2020 21:37

I bought a cheap one of insta before I realised the one step was a thing and half of the videos were of that. I am not impressed with it. It smells of burning and keeps getting too hot. I don’t know now whether to. It the one step or whether it will be similar as I don’t think it’s all that burnt fingers aside.

queenbeeof3 · 20/02/2020 10:42

@olivehater the revlon one step doesn't smell of burn at all. Mine never has and I own it for more than a year now and use it almost everyday.

CrowleysBentley · 20/02/2020 13:05

Thanks @jcurve I have just ordered one, it sounds great.

AnnDaloozier · 20/02/2020 17:51

There are two. One paddle one round. Which are we doing? I want BIG

queenbeeof3 · 20/02/2020 22:45

I have the round one.

AnnDaloozier · 21/02/2020 07:25

Thanks mate

frostedviolets · 21/02/2020 07:38

I have always had really long (bum level), insanely thick hair (although I’ve now cut it short and hate it 🤢) and I’ve never been able to blow dry it nicely!

Maybe some serum would help stop going it frizzy?
