Doing a great blow dry on yourself

Can anyone do a great big bouncy curl blow dry on themself? I've got hair past my boobs and it looks so lovely after hairdressers but I can't seem to do it on myself. I can curl with straighteners but doesn't have the same oomph!

So I’ve used it twice. It does quite a sleek dry on my shoulder length very fine hair, not big and bouncy though.... I’ll keep trying ....

Yeah. Not volume

Getting the hang of my cheap knock of one now and it does give quite a sleek straight blow dry. I am using it with a hairdryer in top as well to speed things up but I have really thick hair. I think I will purchase the real thing at some point as I keep burning my fingers!

Checking back in to say I bought the revlon one. My hair is just below chin length. It is a big barrel, but I love how it grips the hair, and the result was great. I used volumising mousse which helped.

AnnDaloozier · 23/02/2020 10:53

but we all agree its not volumising

Not massively so, but certainly lots of bounce. It also revived my day after hair into a fab shape. Usually I have wash it for that.

Update: people keep asking me if I've just had my hair done Grin

queenbeeof3 · 02/03/2020 07:40

@mimiasovitch priceless Grin

I bought it and didn’t really use it. Then I got the Dyson Airbrush, and my hair was really flat and straight. So I dusted off the One Step as a comparison and actually it was better so Dyson returned! My tip is use it slowly, really hold it at the end and you’ll get a nice rounded shape.

I got the Revlon one step back in October, after airdrying my hair for my whole life (no hairdryer skills and scared of making thick wavy hair frizzy). It has been amazing, I never have a bad hair day anymore, I use it about every 3 days and in between I either give it a 5 minute go over with the straighteners or put some soft waves in.

I don't think it gives too much volume but for those with thick hair it is nice and sleek but bouncy. Hair hasn't dried out either (though I am not using daily) - it does get pretty hot.

I rub Elnet mousse & a quick spray of argan oil through damp hair. Then I use a paddle brush or a large round brush to blow dry m hair upside down. I get the right amount of bounce and volume in my hair.

Morgan12 · 03/03/2020 07:30

Revlon one step is on offer at studio just now if anyone interested. Down to £37.99.

Cinderemma · 03/03/2020 07:35

I reverse blow dry my hair if I want bouncy hair.

Start at the front instead of the back and in sections blow dry it. Then when you've done each section fasten it in a ponytail. You end up looking like a unicorn but I swear it works.
There is probably a YouTube video on how to do it somewhere.

RuggyPeg · 03/03/2020 07:39

I don't get all the love for the one step. I have fine straight hair, just past shoulder length. It's just sort of meh really. Does nothing exciting. Nothing that I can't do with a round brush n hairdryer. Just a boring straight blow-dry.
