Help! 38GG/40GG in need of a comfy supportive bra...do they exist?

I've always worn Freya, fantasie brand bras in 38GG and I'm finding that sometimes the straps aren't thick enough and dig in my shoulders, the side support ones I find really uncomfortable too.

Can anyone recommend any good supportive bras with thick straps which I won't need a second mortgage for?

Thanks

It's going to depend on shape of your boobs, distance between them, depth under armpit etc. Have you been for a fitting at bravissimo or Rigby + Peller or Selfridge's?

Moonba · 17/12/2019 18:31

This bra is amazing. I used to just own less of them as they were so expensive. I’ve never owned such a comfortable bra. I was a H cup for a while and it was the only bra that didn’t leave marks when I took it off at night.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 17/12/2019 18:33

I’m a 38gg and most of my bras are from M&S with a few from curvy Kate.
The M&S sumptuously soft range is lovely and very comfy.

Mumof1andacat · 17/12/2019 18:33

Check on the simply be website. Lots of choice. Just order your size and choose at home

Musmerian · 17/12/2019 20:48

Yes - you need a Primadonna Deauville. I’ve worn nothing else for years (34H). Much more supportive than Freya, Fantasie etc. Thick straps and beautifully made and last ages although spends. I get mine from eBay .

Musmerian · 17/12/2019 20:49

@Moonba - see you got there before me. Aren’t they the best bras ever?

Musmerian · 17/12/2019 20:50

I wouldn’t touch M and S with a barge pole. Apart from the fact that their fitters are shocking the larger bras just aren’t supportive or well fitting.

I'm a 36H and like Elomi. Fantasie fit me but make me look very wide where the Elomi shapes me better and pushes my boobs very slightly closer together.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/12/2019 21:01

Elomi bras are fantastic and so comfortable but hold everything where they should be!

Pickledtubby · 17/12/2019 21:02

Panache superbra balconette. 38hh here and only brand I find comfortable

ATowelAndAPotato · 17/12/2019 21:04

Debenhams own range are good for me, and reasonably priced

Longdistance · 17/12/2019 21:06

Hey, I’m the same size and my bras are from M&S or Debenhams’ gorgeous range.

HappyHarlot · 17/12/2019 21:09

Fantasie (I'm a 38G), but I get them from Ebay. Usually 'last seasons' styles. I don't care if my bra is this seasons colours tbh.

Janaih · 17/12/2019 21:09

Agree debenhams own brand that come in packs of 2 fit me nicely 38gg. And I hate debenhams Grin

Novembre · 17/12/2019 21:23

Thanks ladies. I've tried Debenhams ones (are they called gorgeous), their straps aren't wide enough for me, same with M and S.

I've not been to bravissimo, that's a good point maybe I should.

I can't afford Rigby and Peller at the moment but I may have to invest. I'll have a look at Elomi and Curvy Kate though.

Thanks again.

@Moonba @Musmerian what size would I order as they don't do 38GG in prima Donna ?

Big fan here of the Bravissimo Satine Plunge www.bravissimo.com/products/satine-bra-ivory-au15iv/

Posted too soon! I've worn it from a 40HH to my current 34G and I swear I'll never buy another bra. Does for day and night and so comfy

Eesha · 18/12/2019 00:06

I'm 38G and mine are all Marks and Spencer. I used to love the big brands but just more convenient to shop at M&S

Moonba · 18/12/2019 06:14

@Novembre I personally would try and find an independent stockist (or a Rigby and Peller) and get properly fitted, at least initially. So many people get fitted and then discover that they are a back size lower than they think? Although I notice that they don’t do GG, you’d go straight to a H cup, which from memory is what I did.

Moonba · 18/12/2019 06:15

...then you end up wearing the new bra the home, it’s so comfortable you can’t bare to put the old one back on!

Novembre · 18/12/2019 07:57

Thankyou I'm going to go to Rigby and Peller as there's one not too far away.

£100? For a bra? That's crazy!
I'm 38G and have Debenhams own range, MandS and another branded one that I got from Debenhams, (can't remember the name) all cost less than £25. All very comfortable and fit me perfectly.
I got fitted in both stores and the fitters were all fab. I did think I was (and was wearing) 40DD for years. I'm pleased to be a back size smaller 🤣
I spent hours in Debenhams trying on different styles in that the fitter brought me. Some I wouldn't have even considered had I been in my own. But she clearly knew from looking at me what styles I needed, and she was bang on with every bra!

MadamShazam · 18/12/2019 08:10

I'm a 44G, and my absolute favorite bras, are trusty old Triumph Doreen bras. They may not look like much, but they are incredibly supportive, and now come in quite a nice range of colours. And non wired so really comfy!

Musmerian · 18/12/2019 10:37

@Novembre - hi I’d go up to 34H they come up slightly small.
