Has anyone actually used a face cream that has made a difference ?

Looking at my dressing table I have a million different type of face creams. Part used , where I have gone on to try another and another. I can honestly say that they do not make a jot of difference ! So, if you have found the holy grail please let me know and for how long did it take to show ?

The Aldi overnightface oil in a purple bottle, dupe of the Khiels one, is amazing! £6 and I saw a difference over night.
That and using Alpha H Gold.

viques · 16/12/2019 19:46

Estée Lauder night repair. Expensive but you only use a tiny amount and I reckon it has stopped (most of!) my face slipping down past my shoulders. I don't have many wrinkly bits and my skin looks good.

ChequerBoard · 16/12/2019 19:54

Not a face cream but a serum. Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective has worked wonders for my face, sorting out sensitivity, redness and dryness.

Throughabushbackwards · 16/12/2019 19:58

I usually use Aveeno everywhere, including my face, but when on holiday in the US last year I bought a jar of Agora night cream on promotion for $45 when the rrp is somewhere near $400! I have to say that the Agora cream was astonishingly amazing and my skin definitely improved while I was using it. I can't afford $400 for face cream, though, so it's back to Aveeno for me Crown Sad

Alpha H liquid gold, though any glycolic toner would show results the first times you use it I guess.

joangray38 · 16/12/2019 20:15

Murad retinol youth renewal night cream

BennyTheBall · 16/12/2019 20:19

Liquid Gold did nothing for me.

Dermalogica has made my 49-year-old face the best it's been in 20 years.

GuyFawkesDay · 16/12/2019 20:22

Facetheory serum. The regenacalm one.
Actual visible difference.

I don't buy expensive moisturiser, but I do now buy this serum to go under cheaper moisturiser and that works better for me.

MustardScreams · 16/12/2019 20:24

Not a fave cream but The Ordinary 30% AHA works. I see results in a week.

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 16/12/2019 20:35

I have got a load of serums too. A couple of the ordinary ones , didn't make any real difference

I've used various face creams from Olay to Clinique since I was 19 (now 43) all have contained spf15 or higher & this has meant I have no lines on my face at rest, & no sun damage.

I use Clinique Smart Repair serum under my face cream now & it's making my face less dry & feel softer.

GuyFawkesDay · 16/12/2019 20:45

I didn't rate the ordinary ones either Tbh. Saw no difference!

Thedot90 · 16/12/2019 20:48

I use one called polar night cream - I order from French pharmacy online, and it is absolutely amazing, and the tiniest amount goes a long long way. It is my absolute go to after drinking if I have to look acceptable the next day - just hydrated and plumps without making me break out. I got a tiny sample in a birch box last year, and will continue to buy it.

sniffsneeze · 16/12/2019 20:50

Clinique Moisture surge - visibly reducing fine lines after four weeks of use.

GinisLife · 16/12/2019 20:52

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream. Magic stuff. Changed my skin amazingly. Expensive but can be bought on offer on QVC

Copperblack · 16/12/2019 20:53

Not a face cream but I had to start drinking by 3l of water a day due to kidney issues and my face just started glowing after a couple of days!!

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 16/12/2019 20:58

I use a combo of the ordinary glycolic acid toner, the ordinary buffet and weleda skin food, and my skin is the best it's ever been. If I run out of any of the three products for even a few days I notice a difference. None of them are expensive products and I have found I save money these days because I'm not trying so many different products.

The only thing I would say is the the Skin Food is quite greasy and almost a bit sticky - you definitely glow with it on! I don't care as I don't wear make up day to day so the overall long term effects are worth it for me, but some people might not like it.

PencilsInSpace · 16/12/2019 21:00

Aloe Excellence Aloe Vera Revitalising Face and Body Cream. £13 tub lasts ages.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/12/2019 21:03

I use a combination of Neurophroline serum from GOW and Clinique's moisture surge. Also Azelaic acid at night. Best skin I've had in years.

beautifulstranger101 · 16/12/2019 21:08

The gold standard for anti aging is:

  1. Using a high SPF every day (preferably 50+)
  2. Vitamin C serum (really like skinceuticals one)
  3. Some kind of retinol product (encourages collagen production)

I also personally like glycolic acid peels/serums and instant effects range for night and day

Skittlesandbeer · 16/12/2019 21:08

Buy a home microdermabrasion machine (I have the one by Trophy).

Then go back and retry all your lotions and potions. I’m a believer that nothing much is going to get past the top layer of dead skin. So get rid of it.

Or look into skin needling (if you’re braver than me). Trinny on youtube has loads of advice on doing it (starting out slow).

Other than that, the nature of skin is that it excretes not absorbs. So nothing much is going to go ‘in’ as the face cream adverts would like you to think!

bluebluezoo · 16/12/2019 21:09

I am sensitive to petroleum products. Best product i have found is burts bees, day cream and night cream. Made a massive difference.

I also use an almond based face Oil when my skin feels very dry which is great.

Must be good as i can never find mine, always in the teenagers room!

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 17/12/2019 11:42

It is encouraging to read that it does work for some people. I have tried derma rolling too. Nothing seems to work on my skin. It just seems to give me more spots 😩. I just wish I could go and see someone who knows their stuff and give me a bespoke regime and tell me to stick to it , for let's say , six months and I notice some , just some bloody different. Honestly , the money I must of spent on these creams etc !!

REN serum and the Aldi Caviar day and night creams (both bloody amazing). They are great on my ‘mature’ skin but not sure on younger, more spot-prone skin as they are quite rich.

imfreeezing · 17/12/2019 14:33

I've just finished a bottle of Ren Youth Vitality and have been using Astral from the £1 shop until Santa comes - the Astral's been great on my fine lines and I might keep using it!
