Christmas Day outfits

I've been half heartedly looking for the perfect Xmas day dress all year and recently upped the ante but still no luck. Want a patterned mostly red (but not fire engine red - more rusty / claret) with pockets and that doesn't look like I'm wearing a sack! Above the knee as I've got wide hips but good legs and anything longer makes me look enormous.

I might give up and so am looking for inspiration. I'm at home cooking for 9 so something easy to wear / comfy and will have my slippers on!!

@Ninkanink I love the jigsaw dress, unfortunately I am not the right shape!

ineedto · 18/12/2019 09:58

I'm wearing the hush long sleeve Kensington dress in red and black. So comfortable!

WhatTheFronti · 18/12/2019 12:01

Will be wearing bathers/swimmers....and lots and lots of sunscreen... southern hemi so will be roasting (sadly not potatoes). Wish to dress up lovely but just end up a sweaty mess. Some lovely outfits posted (jealous...)

@ineedto I've been looking at that on and off for a while and just gone to bite the bullet and it's out of stock SadSad

@ineedto thank you, it’s a gorgeous dress! And actually very forgiving (which is why I love it), so might be worth a try! Xmas Smile

westr · 19/12/2019 11:41

Try hush first thing in the morning - they often have things back in stock from returns

CointreauVersial · 19/12/2019 12:27

ineedto - I have the red Kensington dress - lovely isn't it?

Not sure what I'm going to wear.....we always dress up a little, but it's only DCs and DPs on Christmas Day, so I won't go mad. Possibly a pleated skirt and a thin black jumper. I thought about coated skinny jeans and a naice top, but there's nowhere to put the roasties. Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 19/12/2019 13:00

Ooo thanks westr great tip!!

managedmis · 19/12/2019 13:14

Hmmm gawd, after reading these I'd better make a bit of an effort at Noel.

IFartGlitterAndTinsel · 19/12/2019 13:20

I've got this to wear, I'm shorter than the model so it's just above knee length on me

I agree with you all, I love a hush Kensington and now have four Blush.

The red has sold out several times but keep trying as they have been restocking. Also try John Lewis.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 19/12/2019 22:35

I think I’m going to wear a pair of grey leather-like jeans, a grey jumper and mustard yellow boots with gold and stones on the heel.
We don’t really dress up for Christmas,

Panticus · 20/12/2019 00:07

After getting some good encouragement from MNetters re midi skirts, I'm wearing this dress with a woven waist belt and some gold slides. It's going to be 30 degrees Celsius where we are and very muggy. Sadly this is not a picture of me Wink

I bought this dress . It’s very soft and comfortable. I will mostly be directing operations from the couch as am deep into chemotherapy so I wanted something gentle on my skin but not pjs as I still want to dress up a bit ( we all try to dress up for lunch )

@Trumpton you will look lovely directing events. Merry Christmas 🎄

goose1964 · 20/12/2019 21:23

I'm wearing a claret velour dress with sparkly ribbed neckline.

BillywigSting · 20/12/2019 21:37

I ummed and ahhed about wearing a dress but couldn't find any I really loved.

So I'm wearing a bottle green satin blouse with a high neck and long loose sleeves with tailored cuffs and silver buttons, tucked into black skinny jeans with black suede block heeled boots. If I spot a pretty belt between now and then I might pick one up.

Will jazz it up with a pretty long line necklace (charcoal grey crystals on a silver chain) and matching earrings.

The blouse is a very loose romantic looking thing and the jeans are super stretchy so perfect for after a massive dinner.

I never get an excuse to wear satin, I have a young child and a very casual uniform for work.

I'm going to wear a long sleeve t-shirt under the blouse though otherwise I'll be freezing.

BloomedAgain · 20/12/2019 22:19

That dress is lovely @trumpton

Trumpton · 20/12/2019 22:43

Thank you @BloomedAgain
