I'm a size 10/12 and she's measuring me as a 36, that can't be right can it?!

M&S are awful at bra fittings, I wore a 36C for years that they fitted me as. Done the boob or bust online thing which measured me at 32G, then went to Bravissimo and had a fitting without telling them about the boob or bust site, they got me at a 32G also. I go between 32G and 34F depending on the shop and the fit.

Bravissimo just whack on some bras to see the fit, no measuring tapes etc

Oh gosh sorry I didn’t see the update before I posted.
Glad you got it sorted OP, Bravissimo are fabulous

AnotherEmma · 11/12/2019 20:36

Definitely
Do you mean 34FF? (That's the sister size for 32G)

peaceanddove · 11/12/2019 20:47

M&S are notoriously shit at bra fitting. The last time they measured me the assistant insisted I was a 36D. The bra just looked wrong. So I tried Bravissimo and she sized me up as a 34F just by looking at me. She laughed when I said I'd been to M&S.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 11/12/2019 21:04

AnotherEmma oops, yes, 34FF Smile

snowone · 11/12/2019 21:06

No reputable bra fitter will measure you with a tape! Go to bravissimo. I'm a size 16 and I only wear a 34

AnotherEmma · 11/12/2019 21:09

Definitely
Phew (I'm way too invested in every woman having the right size bra Grin)

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/12/2019 21:39

A good bra fitter won't use a tape measure as they should be able to judge by eye and looking at the fit of your current bra, then trial and error. But the tape method described here - no adding inches - generally gets you to a point where you are pretty close and just need to tweak up or down a little. Whereas the old school method results in you being so far away from your real size that it wouldn't even be in the range you would consider trying.

sweatbomb · 11/12/2019 21:41

M&S are crap! I'm a 28DD but M&S always put me in a 32B which whilst technically the same it causes fat to bulge under my armpits... doesn't happen on a 28DD!

PickAChew · 11/12/2019 23:00

No 32H at all on the M&S website. I'm not even that busty.

PickAChew · 11/12/2019 23:07

32D in bravissimo and the lady was so lovely I cried blush unlike M&S lady who told me I have lost all the fullness in my breasts

Just like most women do. A decent bra fitter would suggest styles that help with the spaniel ears effect.

dementedpixie · 12/12/2019 06:54

M&S also miss out FF so a G isnt a really a G

championquartz · 12/12/2019 10:00

Ah glad you had a good experience OP. M+S told me I was 32 -34D. Insisted. Did the head tilt/eyebrow raise/shrug trio when I suggested the bra didn't fit well. I'm a 28E. (A 27 really if such a thing existed).

Why tf don't bra manufacturers make smaller band sizes?? So many of us are 'small' (i.e. average Hmm ). Surely it would make sense.

MoltoAgitato · 12/12/2019 11:23

@AnotherEmma I have tried on a 32C which felt too tight, but to be fair on my current 34B I can pull the band a bit out from my ribs - how much should it go? I have funny shaped boobs anyway so not expecting miracles.

(Apols for thread hijack!)

AnotherEmma · 12/12/2019 11:42

Can't remember off the top of my head but you shouldn't be able to pull the band out more than about an inch I think. Try the bra backwards then you're just testing the band and the cups won't affect it. Once you get the band right you can play with cup size. You might be a 30E for example. Have you done the boob or bust method, what does it say?

Magenta82 · 12/12/2019 11:53

When I was a size 12 M&S measured me as a 40AA, even the sales assistant realized that this was ridiculous, abandoned the tape measure and put me in a 34D
