This coat: yes or no?

I like it but I'm indecisive.

This coat: yes or no?
OP posts:

The XS in Zara does often come up for a size 4/6. My DD is a size 6 and very slim so I understand where you are coming from. She wears coats like this that are a bit big buts it’s a style. I loved the dark green colour! There are a lot of this style of cost around at the moment but they are all a fairly big cut. If you like the style, go for it.

Moondancer73 · 15/11/2019 07:21

I think it looks lovely - you can get away with it because you have such a small frame

Elementalillusions · 15/11/2019 07:32

I don’t think it looks bad on you, just a little big.

My first thought when I saw it though was ‘Gosh that will look and feel hideous if it even gets a little bit wet’.

funmummy48 · 15/11/2019 07:42

I think you look nice in it. If you like it, but it!

DuchessMustard · 15/11/2019 09:31

@PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind the pigeon toed pose is a well known thing that models, fashion bloggers etc. do to try to look younger and thinner in pictures.

It was done deliberately and that's what people were picking up on.

Whitejotter · 15/11/2019 09:45

The bazaar things people get annoyed about! Shock 😂

DuchessMustard · 15/11/2019 10:52

It was just a bit disingenuous, I think that's what people were responding to

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 15/11/2019 10:56

OMG it was done deliberately? Shock

So what? 😂

SpiderCharlotte · 15/11/2019 10:59

It was done deliberately and that's what people were picking up on.

The OP said it was unconscious.

It was just a bit disingenuous

According to you.

You may be right, you may not be but the OP has said she's struggling with her self esteem right now so I hardly think your posts will help that, do you? It's such a silly thing to pick up on and to post 3 consecutive posts about it, with links to 'prove' your point is just unkind to the OP, who is asking opinions on a coat.

historysock · 15/11/2019 11:09

Love it.

DuchessMustard · 15/11/2019 11:18

@PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind I was just trying to explain why so many posters were irritated by it, as you didn't seem aware.

@SpiderCharlotte yes, I know she said it was unconscious. That was the disingenuous bit I was referring to.

I think a number of posters were mildly rubbed up the wrong way by someone posting very obviously to try to fish for a specific type of compliment and then feigning ignorance.

I am familiar with the op from many past threads, FWIW.

SpiderCharlotte · 15/11/2019 11:35

Oh I see, you're saying that the OP is lying about it being unconscious.

I was just trying to explain why so many posters were irritated by it, as you didn't seem aware.

I think a number of posters were mildly rubbed up the wrong way by someone posting very obviously to try to fish for a specific type of compliment and then feigning ignorance.

How fortunate that the posters on this forum have you to speak on their behalf.

I don't really care if it was deliberate or not, I'm not sure why it would matter to you so much that you would post all those links. It looks like you're trying to encourage others to have a pop at the OP and like I said before, that's unkind.

elQuintoConyo · 15/11/2019 11:36

It is a little boxy, but the colour is lovely and it looks warm.

Though it does do something funny to your face... Grin

Whitejotter · 15/11/2019 11:48

It looks like you're trying to encourage others to have a pop at the OP and like I said before, that's unkind. This in spades! Looks like some people have too much time on their hands and they need a positive way to redirect their energies.

DuchessMustard · 15/11/2019 11:58

I posted that while on the stepper waiting for circuit class to start, & am posting this walking from gym to home to start work. But thanks for the life advice Grin

Not speaking for anyone else. Was just providing some helpful background info for those who were baffled by the idea that a pose like that might be done deliberately.

It's not in any way significant. I just personally find the attitude & the dishonesty irritating & am allowed to express that view.

SpiderCharlotte · 15/11/2019 12:32

@DuchessMustard I just personally find the attitude & the dishonesty irritating & am allowed to express that view.

Well yes, you're allowed to say what you like, it's an open forum. Just as I'm allowed to express the view that you clearly have an issue with the OP and seem to want other people to as well with your 'helpful background info'.

I am familiar with the op from many past threads, FWIW.

I'm not sure what the relevance of this is.

When someone tells you that they have self esteem issues, commenting on their 'attitude and dishonesty' is uncalled for. Perhaps you should lay off the OP.

dellacucina · 15/11/2019 12:36

I'm amazed that anyone would say they know me from past threads in which I seem to be fishing for compliments. I almost exclusively post about relationship issues and I don't think my physical appearance ever comes up there.

I know that I'm very thin. I don't need to be complimented on it. I just wanted advice on a piece of clothing.

OP posts:
dellacucina · 15/11/2019 13:00

And obviously I'm not looking for compliments about being young looking given I have obscured my face...

OP posts:
SpiderCharlotte · 15/11/2019 13:07

Have you decided what to do about the coat OP?

dellacucina · 15/11/2019 13:16

Yes, I returned it. I was very persuaded by the advice that I would know instinctively if it were the right coat!

OP posts:
NotaWagon · 15/11/2019 14:00

I love the coat!

littlepooch · 15/11/2019 14:02

I think you did the right thing.

I thought it looked nice on you but you'd know if it was the right one.

Wimbledonmam · 15/11/2019 14:06

No, it’s awful.
