I like it but I'm indecisive.

This coat: yes or no?

I've just bought a really similar coat but pink... I absolutely love it, I feel really glamorous and cosy. My dh hates it, says it's shapless and tacky - I still wear it tho as I love it 😻

dellacucina · 14/11/2019 12:21

The way my feet were positioned in the first photo was completely unconscious. My self esteem is really crap currently and I've had a lot of stressful life events take place recently so

dellacucina · 14/11/2019 12:22

I suppose it would not be a great surprise if this showed up in my posture.

I'm 39, to whomever asked.

underthebridgedowntown · 14/11/2019 12:34

I think the v-neck will mean it's not actually very warm, and it will date quickly, but then I buy coats to last for years, so I personally wouldn't.

Sorry people have been shitty about the way you were standing OP. Irrelevant and dickish.

StCharlotte · 14/11/2019 13:40

I'm sorry you've had a hard time. I only mentioned the pose because I thought it distorted the way the coat hung Smile

Atalune · 14/11/2019 13:56

There is an olive green teddy bear coat in miss selfridge I think you should try on.

I have worked out why I’m not so sure on the coat...it’s too low on the front V so if you do get it get it in 1/2 smaller sizes.

Oh and the comments about your posture.....Grin. Just let them wash over you!

This one?

In the end, I think I'm returning the coat, mostly because it's true that it's not that practical. Also, the PP who said I would know it if it were the right coat was probably right.

Atalune · 14/11/2019 14:14

Yes! Get it. It’s lovely in real life. And I think the slightly longer length will be good.

I still love the other coat- just size down.

dellacucina · 14/11/2019 14:15

The problem is that this is an extra small. There are no smaller sizes. Coats are a serious problem for me.

Atalune · 14/11/2019 14:18

Have you tried the children’s sections in the following shops?

Zara
Massimo Dutti
Marks and Spencer’s (surprisingly nice)

Or the petite range in
Topshop

dellacucina · 14/11/2019 14:29

No! Maybe I should do that.

The possible problem I see is that I'm a normal height, just have a very small frame.

I actually quite like M&S, despite all of the drama here about changing rooms or whatever

Concestor · 14/11/2019 14:32

You can get coats altered. It costs, but with shoulders taken in, sleeves shortened and darts added it would look so much better.

dellacucina · 14/11/2019 14:35

Bwahahaha I just checked the measurements for the M&S 16 year old size and this would actually fit me perfectly.

Yes, I can see that alterations may be the way to go for some things. It may be worth it if it saves me spending hours of my life fruitlessly trying on enormous ready-to-wear garments.

Go kid coat shopping!

LochJessMonster · 14/11/2019 14:49

love it. warm fluffy coats are suppose to be oversized!

nearlyfinished1moreyear · 14/11/2019 14:54

@dellacucina love it!

SpiderCharlotte · 14/11/2019 15:12

I'm not sure about the coat but you have a great figure OP. I'm not sure why some posters are being utter dicks about the way you happened to be standing.

namechanged984630 · 14/11/2019 15:30

I'd like to buy this! Did you get XS or S? I'm a size 8.

dellacucina · 14/11/2019 16:23

This is XS. I normally would wear a size 4 in the UK. As noted above, it's from the US, However!

OP posts:
peachypetite · 14/11/2019 22:55

I think you need a petite version

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 14/11/2019 23:00

Jesus, that coat is GORGEOUS! The colour, the fur, the whole thing is just fabulous!

Ignore those twats picking apart your pose.... FFS.

teachermam · 14/11/2019 23:09

It's grand not pushed either way

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/11/2019 02:36

Sorry to hear you've been having a crisis of confidence OP. I'm not sure either the miss selfridge coat or the original one in the OP do much for you though, they both look fairly cheap and won't date or last well.

If you're struggling with finding a smaller fit i always find Warehouse to do smaller sizes well. Most shops cut everything pretty generously these days. A 6 in some shops i find is more like what i would expect an 8-10 to be, especially when it comes to coats.

Zero79me · 15/11/2019 03:15

Buy kids fur coat it will fit better.

Ludways · 15/11/2019 03:23

My boss has one like it in grey and I hate it BUT I love that one, the colour makes all the difference.
