What makeup item have you used for years and years, that still works for you?

Mine's the Body Shop black liquid eyeliner. It's the one item I've worn every single day for years, I think since the 90s or early noughties at least! I love it because it's a felt pen-type of nib so easy to draw a line with (can do it in seconds) and it when it dries it stays BLACK, not turns grey or anything like others do.

I know there are others to experiment with, but if it ain't broke etc... Smile what's yours?

Benefit Dandelion - makes my pale face look almost healthy.

waitingformyturn · 31/10/2019 08:44

Rimmel kohl nude eyeliner for the waterline

Greenvalleymama · 31/10/2019 08:53

Garnier BB cream. I did use Maybelline Great Lash Mascara for about 20 years and then weirdly developed a reaction to it.

NannyPear · 31/10/2019 08:56

Remus I finally bought dandelion this year and it's amazing how much it makes me look less like a walking zombie!

NannyPear · 31/10/2019 08:57

Collection concealer and ABH dipbrow

Aderyn19 · 31/10/2019 09:04

Rimmel grey kohl pencil - lovely colour, not too hard or soft.

DieCryHate · 31/10/2019 09:13

Estée Lauder camouflage wear foundation. I use a small bit on my red patches and under my eyes in a lighter colour underneath either foundation or tinted moisturiser. I mix it to lighten up my foundation when I'm pale also. Amazing coverage as the name suggests so only need a tiny bit. Works miracles on me.

LunaTheCat · 31/10/2019 09:17

Bobbi Brown lipstick in Sandwash Pink, Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, Nars eyeshadows.

JoanBonJovi · 31/10/2019 09:20

You see I think you need to change up every so often even if you think something is your HG product.

Tech changes and fashions in make up do too. Whenever something I liked was discontinued I am always delighted with the replacement forced onto me. See for example the glossier haloscope- easiest the best highlighter around.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/10/2019 09:22

Nanny - it's marvellous stuff, isn't it?!

WellTidy · 31/10/2019 09:25

Estée Lauder lipstick in cafe latte shade. Bought it first in the late 1990s/early 2000s. They made it for ages. Of course they’ve now stopped making it but I found some randomly on worldwide eBay and bought it in bulk from the US. I know that it’s probably a bit dated (ahem!) but it suits me.

evilharpy · 31/10/2019 11:59

Avon powder foundation - it changes its name every so often but not the product itself. I have rosacea and nothing else is as suitable for my skin and covers the red without looking too cakey.

XingMing · 31/10/2019 14:37

Sensei/Kanebo Gentle Glow with SPF6. Sheer drift of water-based skin colour that you can't f*ck up even if you apply it in darkness. It's sadly not stocked in many shops.

Honeybee85 · 31/10/2019 14:45

MAC eyebrow pencil in lingering.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 31/10/2019 14:50

Benefit Dandelion and High Beam

graziemille567 · 31/10/2019 14:50

Not quite makeup, but I use John Frieda FrizzEase Secret Agent Touch Up Cream constantly on my hair, and have done for 17 years. Works absolute magic on fluffy hair and ends that are acting erratically and I couldn't cope without it.

Otherwise, I am a make up whore and have absolutely no loyalty to any make up products!

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/10/2019 14:52

Super drug colour shampoo dyes.

Anthilda · 31/10/2019 19:11

Maybelline colour tatoo eyeshadow. Apply with my finger as it's a cream, it goes on so easy and quickly when I'm dashing for the school run. I have also used Avon glimmersticks eyebrow pencil which is also good to apply quickly.
Laura paige bronzer I've used since I was a teen, it's a lovely colour n only a couple of quid from the local chemist.

WonderWomanBra · 31/10/2019 22:57

I know this is not make up but I am obessesd with Boots rosewater and glycerin. As for make up I love mary balm higlighter,it's not too sparkely unlike Mac's Soft and Gentle!

Lillygolightly · 31/10/2019 23:18

From the age of 15 to 31 I used and loved Almay Hypoallergenic Foundation, I only stopped using it as Almay production was discontinued.

Rimmel lasting finish foundation which considering it’s less than a tenner and frequently on sale for about £6 in bodycare it’s brilliant stuff. Last ages, not heavy on the skin and never causes breakouts unlike the Mac foundation or Ester Lauder Double Wear I tried.

Maybelline instant anti age concealer

Redkin Anti-snap used this periodically since age 20 and it’s brilliant for restoring my hair.

Mac Blusher in Style Frost it’s a beautiful peach colour with a very very subtle hint of gold shimmer and suits my complexion perfectly.

ViciousJackdaw · 01/11/2019 01:00

Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara in brown/black - just the job for everyday use. Also, the Creme Puff for can't be arsed with make up days.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 01/11/2019 01:18

Another vote for Dandelion

whatamidoing4 · 01/11/2019 01:26

It's only been around for 2 years but revolution pro concealer it's the absolute bee's knees! I can't see me not buying it forever more haha That and Carmex if that can count

Chickenwings85 · 01/11/2019 01:34

An other one for Rimmels kohl eyeliner pencil in Black. I only really use it on my bottom lash line. Doesn't smudge but easy to remove, easy to apply and just looks lovely on.
I also, love max factor lasting performance foundation. I use it as a concealer only on my problem areas, the staying power is brilliant and covers well especially when a powder is used over the top.

An other good buy which I've used for around 2 years is a lipstick by Revolution (shade is chauffeur) it gives MAC a run for their money! When applied properly it has brilliant staying power!

Cordial11 · 01/11/2019 02:32

Laura mercier hydrating primer (if you have dry skin buy it now!!!)
Benefit brow zing
Estee lauder bronze goddess bronzer
