What jeans is a 50 year old woman wearing in 2019?

I'm the exact same height weight and size as you. I'm narrow of waist and big bum and thighs. I just got the most amazing jeans from asos. Mom style or balloon leg. So comfy and I think flattering. I'm 42 BTW.

Am mid 40s, similar size, bit taller. Wearing 501s mainly. Also like the look and quality of some jeans in Monki.

I could name many brands but the best for me (size 10-12 pear shape from waist down) are Pilcro (either skinny, wide leg or flared) from Anthropologie. I always wait for the sale as they are quite pricey.

And a shout out to Gap long and lean (between a flare and a boot leg).

I'm on my way to 50 and I live in J brand, Goldsign and Zara jeans. Just bought a pair from Topshop, the straight mid rise idol!? ones.

Size 10-ish, 5'5", 62kg, age 63: current favourites are ancient black 501s (in need of a dye bath) or denim Hiut girlfriend style. And a wideleg pair in dark indigo denim from COS AW18 sale.

For me, I’ve ditched jeans altogether. Was never a mad fan though.

In my case, it's slim leg jeans, mostly from M&S because they usually have styles which fit short-legged pear shaped women.

And size 12 , I buy vintage 501 Levi in a 33 waist of eBay mainly but also have wide leg cropped in summer with converse and skinny / straight to wear with boots ( docs , standard and biker style )

I wear either M&S Autograph black skinnies
Levis black skinnies but I like the M&S better because of the higher waist
Levis straight leg rolled up

I'm currently in CottonEdits (also size 12, which is weird because my extra inch in height surely doesn't weigh a whole stone...)

They're really comfortable - but I think they don't like my machine's high-spin cotton wash which I do most things on, because two out of three pairs have developed strange crinkly areas where the fabric has stretched unevenly. Would recommend using the easy-care setting.

I am 5'4” and a size 12 too and I’m wearing Monki Taiki jeans because i am through with skinnies.
I’m not finding them easy to wear in this weather though because I hate to have chilly ankles!

If you don’t have a defined waist then I’d probably give jeans a miss unless you want to go for more masculine styles.

I get how that works in theory thedevilinablackdress and sometimes that’s what I do, but it does not look good on me.

Somehow a flash of bare ankle is much nicer looking than a besocked one IMO

It's way better to dress for your personal satisfaction, and your body shape (which at least you described in the opening post) than stereotypes of age (which you unfortunately gave rather greater preference by sticking it in the title).

I suggest you need not-tight skinnies or straight legs. You don't have the height or the slimness to get away with extra fabric at any point of the leg.

I just buy whatever fits me. Currently I have high waist black skinny jeans from M and S, slim leg blue jeans from M and S. Some super comfy jeans from Matalan and some blue skinnies from Debenhams.

I agree that sometimes the posting can get a bit aggro but I do think some of it's motivated by frustration at ageism. See a lot of posts equating age with looking bad. Not that OP here was being negative. Apologies for the derail.
