Okay so any advice on what to do with my hair? It's mega curly, I always have it up in a bun but I'm getting pretty bored of it,I just don't know how to tame it? I used to straighten it a lot but since becoming a mum it's a once in a blue moon thing.
Also I brush it everyday and sleep with it up in the night and I always seem to get matted/dreads in my hair in the morning?! They're thick aswell takes me ages to comb them through. I've cut my hair before because it's been so knotted. Help me before I come Bob Marley lol

Put it into 2 low plaits to sleep in?

Personally I think your hair is beautiful, but if it’s unmanageable what about a Keratin straightening treatment?

fallfallfall · 30/09/2019 22:28

beautiful curls, embrace them with the curly girl method.
which is basically condition every day (which will take care of the tangles) followed by a curl product to enhance the curls.
no combing or brushing generally.

pazwaz70 · 30/09/2019 22:32

I have no advice really but your hair is gorgeous. Don't brush it use a proper comb, maybe a wide toothed comb or even an Afro comb. I used to use an Afro comb when my hair was permed back in the day. There's plenty of products on the market for curly hair. Unfortunately I have fine hair but loads of it!! Have a look on You Tube there will be loads of advice & videos on curly hair.

CountFosco · 30/09/2019 22:32

Don't straighten it! It's absolutely gorgeous.

unicornsandrainbows98 · 30/09/2019 22:33

@Atalune
Thankyou for the lovely compliment! And it's not unmanageable just annoying sometimes! I do love my curls and want to embrace them more but it's just how! But I'll definitely try the plates I've just come out the shower so I'll try it now
@fallfallfall
And thankyou!! And I'll definitely give this a try, so I just use normal conditioner? Do I leave it in to soak or just use it normally in the shower? I use tresemmé I don't know if this is right for my hair type 🤷‍♀️

Don’t brush it!

Wear it down and use a sea salt spray.

fallfallfall · 30/09/2019 22:35

one of the first videos i watched

PlasticPatty · 30/09/2019 22:36

Vast amounts of conditioner.
Use your fingers, not a brush.
Love it. It's amazing.

unicornsandrainbows98 · 30/09/2019 22:36

@CountFosco
I've been tempted too but it takes me around 45 minutes to do it as I have to part it section by section and do it that way- a lot of effort and time I don't have lol. Also it used to take my curls out and make it go dry and frizzy so I'm not don't doing that again anytime soon!
@pazwaz70
And thankyou!!Smile
I'll look on YouTube and see what's around! And I'll have a look into a wide toothed comb I imagine they would be quite cheap on amazon! Thanks for the advice!

@PlasticPatty
Thank you for your lovely comment!
I only brush it in the shower as I've realised that if I brush it dry it fluffs up and I look like a pompom 😂
@fallfallfall
And thanks for the link I'll give that a watch now!!
@Collision
I'll look into the salt sea spray, haven't heard of that before? Is it meant to be any good?

fallfallfall · 30/09/2019 22:42

i don't suggest buying conditioner yet. use up what you've got.
do get curl lotion.
i shampoo weekly, and again for something done only once a week it doesn't seem to matter much. so don't waste money on that yet.
look up praying hands method. it helps the buddy curls come together.
if you get it cut/trimmed search out someone italian/portuguse or spanish if possible, they should have more experience with curls. not someone with poker straight hair.

Outsomnia · 30/09/2019 22:43

Would you consider cutting it shorter into a lovely curly style that is easy to manage. Bet it would be gorgeous!

Other than that I have no advice. Straight hair shortish cut person here!

rededucator · 30/09/2019 22:48

Why would you want to tame it! It's fab! Don't brush it or it'll go fuzzy.

rededucator · 30/09/2019 22:50

Shorter, even just shoulder length, would take a lot of the weight off. That's give you even more bounce

MsChatterbox · 30/09/2019 22:55

Really nice hair. I think brushing sounds like a nightmare. Is there any chance you could wet it under shower in the morning, put leave in conditioner in and a styling product if you wish and detangle with your fingers? You could finger coil for more defined curls if you wish? If you don't have time for this in the morning then could you do some time during the day and sleep with a cap on?

EmmiJay · 30/09/2019 23:24

Get a hair bonnet/silk pillow case and some decent hair conditioner with argan oil. Oh and a wide tooth comb to seperate/ define curls.

Dilligaf81 · 30/09/2019 23:40

My hair is the same as yours, I wear it up every night otherwise I end up with dreeds and could suffocate my Dh.
I wash or wet it everyday (I've found a great shea one in poundstretchers that is amazing or aldi do a moisture one who h is a great copy of Aussies), then brush it through with a tangle teaser. I use boots own brand curly hair mousse (2 for £1.50) and then use ultra freeze hair spray to keep the frizz at bay (tressamme do a great one).
This is what works for me, I've tried the curly girl method but it really didn't work for me.

Also I brush my hair when it's really wet and scrunch it with a towel. I'm trying to attach a picture to show you but it's not attaching for some reason.

Opps and now it's attached twice.

NoTheresa · 30/09/2019 23:46

Don’t cut it or straighten it. It is beautiful that length.

hairtoss · 01/10/2019 00:06

OMG I would kill for your hair!
It's so beautiful!

I personally would wear it a bit shorter, Cos that's the trend at the mo, but it's so lovely the length it is now too!

Beacauseisaidso · 01/10/2019 00:09

Google curly girl method!

ftm45 · 01/10/2019 01:03

Hi I'm mixed race with thick curly hair! I tend to condition, apply leave in conditioner, some oil and a curling creme and then put my hair in 2 braids over night! Hers a pic of mine

ftm45 · 01/10/2019 01:04

Here is**

SusanStats · 01/10/2019 01:31

Highly recommend cutting it shorter, anywhere between a bob and shoulder length. My hair is similar, curly and dry with tendency to frizz. I didn't like spending a lot of time/money on maintenance when it was long and it's much easier to manage after I cut it short, and looks nicer too.
