Are these boots frumpy or not?

I've been looking for a pair of black, mid height black leather work horse boots I can wear for work with slim fit black trousers and skirts (semi smart office), I've already bought and sent back three pairs. I keep looking at these www.hush-uk.com/footwear-2/footwear/boots/whitby_ankle_boots-black-silver.htm and thinking 'I like them, but that heel is.....not quite right'. Thoughts?

I can't believe they're £200! Sorry op they look cheap and dated

Mummyshark2018 · 17/09/2019 21:32

I like them and have a similar shape and colour but without the studs.

BikeRunSki · 17/09/2019 22:01

Unless you live in a city, there are few shoe shops left if any in small towns. Often the internet is the only way of buying shoes unless you travel.

Or at all if your feet are bigger than an 8.

Bluntness100 · 17/09/2019 22:06

It's a no from me, it's the studs that do it.

Jesaminecollins · 18/09/2019 04:19

I recently purchased these from Dune, they are really comfy

Unbalanced looking

Jesaminecollins · 18/09/2019 04:39

@Mummybares

Show me your taste in ankle boots??

BusterGonad · 18/09/2019 04:54

I actually quite like them, you could only wear them with trousers/jeans imo. They have a late 90s vibe to them which I like, I had a pair very similar (minus the studs) and I loved them.

TipseyTorvey · 18/09/2019 05:03

This has got me thinking that I need to just embrace my frumpiness a bit as I'm not keen on so many styles maybe I'm just a bit older than their demographic now Grin..

Am going to try these and keep them no matter what as I'm bored now!

You might like this on johnlewis.com:

That last link went a bit wrong.

Sigh. In black are the ones I mean. I'd never wear white boots ffs!

Alicewond · 18/09/2019 05:11

They are awful too, just try next or very for a normal pair of boots

Monty27 · 18/09/2019 05:14

Hideous as well even if black.
Sorry

Jesaminecollins · 18/09/2019 05:16

@TipseyTorvey

Sorry they are just vile and as for the price! I could buy and weeks shopping with that amount.

BusterGonad · 18/09/2019 05:17

I love the John Lewis ones op, I'd definitely buy those if I had a spare £150, they are really 60s and gorgeous. 10/10 from me.

BusterGonad · 18/09/2019 05:19

I'd wear them with 60s style dresses and my fake fur coat, maybe skinny jeans and collared knit wear. That's my style though, obviously not everyone these! 😂

BusterGonad · 18/09/2019 05:21

Else's!

TipseyTorvey · 18/09/2019 05:34

Maybe @Bustergonad and I have similar styles as that's exactly how I'll style them too Grin.

Boots from next would fall apart in a year wouldn't they. I prefer to buy some that will last a few years hopefully. Cost per wear they'll work out as I'll probably wear them 3 times a week through winter.

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 18/09/2019 05:48

@TipseyTorvey if that's the case then go for it, imo you can't beat a kitten heel or a pointed toe. It's how you wear the boots that count, I mean you'd look like a right knob teaming them with boyfriend jeans and Brenton top but pop on a Peter Pan collared dress and a fur coat and you're look the dogs bollocks! (To me anyway) 😂

AnyFucker · 18/09/2019 05:58

I wouldn't give 'em tuppence for those monstrosities, never mind 200 quid

ChickenyChick · 18/09/2019 06:28

Hush now sell Primark quality for £££

They used to be good quality and snd loved the style Sad

pictish · 18/09/2019 06:45

Yes Next boots will fall apart, especially if you wear them a lot. They’re shit. Not especially cheap either.

GoneToTheDock · 18/09/2019 06:57

@Cleopatrai

Why do people do this? Its not a thread about the environment, op is asking for help on these boots. Maybe she cant get to the shops, maybe she lives in Margate and the nearest store is Southampton? How would that be better for the environment for her to go all the way over there when there are deliveries happening every day??

HTH Hmm

cocomelon23 · 18/09/2019 07:06

The most recent ones look awful too. They remind me of something my mum wore when I was little.

AnyFucker · 18/09/2019 07:08

The John Lewis ones are even fuglier !
