I am going to a V. fancy wedding at the weekend and although I have a dress I could wear, I'm not 100 per cent comfortable in it iyswim.

So what about this www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_59368_402720_-1
I am blonde, 5'10 and a size 16/18 and some very good underwear will be playing a supporting role. I have a nice pair of strappy white platforms and have a light tan. So would it be a good choice(needless to say 100 squids is quite a lot for me)

it's a lovely lovely dress but maybe a bit more eveningy than a daytime dress?

I think it would be a good choice if you like it and feel confident and comfortable in it. colour's great, syle very in. It's not quite my thing (i'm a short arse and can;t do waists) but I think it's the kind of thing that could look great on someone who feels happy in it

Carmenere · 06/08/2007 23:02

Oh do you think? em, I just thought it would be quite summery, oh.

hate it sorry

hatwoman · 06/08/2007 23:03

I don;t thing the eveningy-day-time thing applies at weddings anymore

Carmenere · 06/08/2007 23:04

the dress I have is a similar shape but is in stretchy draped jersey fabric in purple and I think it might be too er sexy for a posh wedding iyswim.

Ok I reckon it is worth trying on at least as I do like it but I am not in love with it. I'll continue the search.

Have you tried it on yet? In my experience (and I'm same sort of size as you but a bit taller) you've got to try it on. If you feel fabulous then go for it.

turquoise always looks great with a tan as well

MrsWeasley · 06/08/2007 23:10

its lovely. you will look delightful. Go for it

paulaplumpbottom · 06/08/2007 23:10

I think its lovely but it is a very hard color to wear so make sure it suits. I wouldn't wear white shoes with it

Carmenere · 06/08/2007 23:11

Or here is a much cheaper plainer one www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_62253_387520_-1 that may work in the same ilk however it may be a bit hyacinth bouquet

My shoes are really quite funky. I would never normally wear white shoes but these are rafia platforms with chunky white straps. I can always be persuaded to buy more shoes though....

www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_17804_302870_-1 Maybe a better choice?

Biglips · 06/08/2007 23:18

ive just got myself a gorgeous strappy dress for a wedding from Asda (george) in that type sort of style as i can wear it in the daytime or evening as it got brown and cream print on it with a dull gold gorgeous V shape neckline and a tie back to show off my figure nicely - i wish it had a piccy showing on the asda website and only cost me £22.00!!

Carmenere · 06/08/2007 23:21

I'm a huge fan of George. I got a totally fab dress there a couple of months ago. I will definitely go an check it out tomorrow.

shoes are v nice ppb, and could well do the trick but i like my white ones even if they are not suitable

no-turqouise one much much better. i think you will look stunning in it with your height and colouring-a bit like jessica rabbit!

Biglips · 06/08/2007 23:24

it will be in the George Collections section (the posh stuff)
