I am going to a V. fancy wedding at the weekend and although I have a dress I could wear, I'm not 100 per cent comfortable in it iyswim.

So what about this www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_59368_402720_-1
I am blonde, 5'10 and a size 16/18 and some very good underwear will be playing a supporting role. I have a nice pair of strappy white platforms and have a light tan. So would it be a good choice(needless to say 100 squids is quite a lot for me)

this one i can't decide if i like or not

TnOgu · 07/08/2007 00:31

lol @ NA.

You are on a roll

Carmenere · 07/08/2007 09:21

I obviously went to bed too early Thanks for the suggestions and compliments One of the problems I have to look out for is my tendancy to look like a fifties house wife and not in a good way. I have to stick to streamlined clothes as I am overweight so I am going to offload dd onto dp and head into debenhams and just try things on for a couple of hours. I might try Monsoon but I have a feeling that there may be quite a few Monsoon dresses at the wedding and I would die if a younger skinnier guest was wearing the same dress

I know wat you mean Carmenere, I just went on holiday with my sister and we had the same swimsuit.
hers - size 12
mine - size 18.
we looked like the before and after
I think you are right you need to try things on
Monsoon is good, also East?

CountessDracula · 07/08/2007 10:04

ooh I LOVE that red vinyl print one may have to order for me!

Beetroot · 07/08/2007 10:05

the red one is gorgeous for a summer wedding

Carmenere · 07/08/2007 10:07

Harpsi you are not an 18? Well you carry it very well if you are

thanks
I wear 18 in swimsuits and underwear because I have a big bum and big bazoomas and I like to be comfortable . but I do have a waist which helps when dressing.
at the mo I am wearing a size 16 but I am sometimes a 14 or even sometimes a 12. I don't really diet, my weight just wiggles around.

harpsichordcarrier · 07/08/2007 10:10

sorry tmi about my weight there

nailpolish · 07/08/2007 10:13

carmenere

turquoise is agreat colour with tanned skin, and is very fashionalbe at the mo

i like both turquise dresses

dont try to buy new shoes to match - its a difficult colour to match

i think if you get the correct underwear then you are 99% of the way there - its so important

top up the tan a bit more and you will have bags of co nfidence

you can never be too dressy at a wedding IMO

Carmenere · 07/08/2007 16:44

Ok I tried on the first one. It looked amazing, it is a really flattering colour. However it was a little bit too tight on the norks and they didn't have an 18 in my local shop I am very sad about it but it was quite low cut at the back and would've taken some very clever scaffolding hmm.
I also tried this www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_59368_393281_-1 this on which is totally gorgeous in rl, it is cream not white and is very flattering but again a bit too tight around the bust so I would need the 18 and they didn't have it.

My search continues........

I'm going to ring another branch to see if they have the 18 as I actually think it is worth the trouble, it truly is fantasticly flattering in rl and now I've tried it on nothing else will make me feel as good iyswim. How fast do Debenhams deliver does anyone know?

OP posts:
Carmenere · 07/08/2007 17:01

The wedding is Saturday btw and it says delivery within 5 days so my only hope is the other shop.

I don't think a minimiser would do it tbh mainly because of the shape of the neckline.
