I never wear fancy stuff. I don’t own any.

Please can you wonderful people suggest an unfussy outfit?

It’s being held in a sort of country club so not overly formal

In the very rare occasion I wear dresses I wear stretchy jersey style cotton maxi but I haven’t seen anything suitable.

NOTHING IN RIGID FABRIC OR A BELTED WAIST PLEASE !

It needs to be slightly stretchy, with a low neckline

Have a look at phase eight, I'm same shape as you and I bought a beautiful dress off ebay, I'll see if I can show you.

I have a wedding in one week - similar size - nothing to wear yet, so hope you get loads of ideas here, so I can pinch them.

BarkandCheese · 15/08/2019 12:01

I was going to suggest Phase 8 too. I wore a maxi dress from there to a wedding last week, it's a couple of years old though so I can't link a picture, but I know they still have a similar style in stock. If you're short you might need to have it taken up a bit though.

angelinterceptor · 15/08/2019 12:03

Is there a slightly cheaper version of Phase8 - I couldn't justify that price for one day's outfit - would literally never wear it again

imclaustrophobicdarren · 15/08/2019 12:06

Go in ASOS and search kimono midi dress, I feel like this style would be flattering.

Simkin · 15/08/2019 12:06

Have a look at scarlett and Jo. There's something magical about their (stretchy) waistlines.

Kaz2200 · 15/08/2019 12:07

Looked on phase 8 not much on there website, but look on ebay loads of dresses, search for pencil dress, I am a busty 14/small 16 and bought a 16 with plenty of room.

HellonHeels · 15/08/2019 12:07

I'm a fatso with huge boobs - my fave is the Lady V London Elsie dress:

HellonHeels · 15/08/2019 12:08

It's silky and stretchy and comfortable.

Herocomplex · 15/08/2019 12:15

As a fellow short round person can I suggest as well that you get your hair professionally blow dried, and think about a hat/hair decoration. (The hairdresser can help you with that as well.) Having that makes you feel so much better, the focus is upwards!

The last wedding I went to I wore a soft jersey button up ‘coat’ from Cos over a plain jersey dress with suede heels.

Teddybear45 · 15/08/2019 12:17

Asos should be able to provide some really nice dresses in their plus / petite / modest ranges. Almost all of their dresses are a softer flowy material with some give.

cranstonmanor · 15/08/2019 12:21

What size are you? Because if you wear a size 24 not all shops will sell your size.

Clankboing · 15/08/2019 12:22

I have looked for similar dresses. Roman Originals has a lot of stretchy but smart dresses, without a belted waist. And Next too.

Deathraystare · 15/08/2019 12:23

I am 5ft 4in about 15.5 stone, large norks, tummy, bum. I wore a navy lace dress from Monsoon with a colourful coat from Joe Browns over the top (worried it would be cold. The coat was thin and unlined. The weather was on /off rainy but plenty of sunshine in-between. I got compliments for the outfit. I have lusted over many Monsoon dresses (except the viscose ones)

Clankboing · 15/08/2019 12:50

You could consider a suit, even with trousers. I'm thinking Pinns style trousers, a matching jacket and a floral open neck blouse.

Shortfeet · 15/08/2019 20:17

Thanks to you all. Please keep suggesting options

Perhaps wait a month? I'm also off to a wedding in Nov, but the shops are still so full of summer clothes that the choice isn't very good.

When the autumn ranges come out I'm hoping for a lovely midi / maxi style dress with sleeves in a nice rich colour, which will suit November.

cricketmum84 · 15/08/2019 23:52

Scarlett and Jo dresses are perfect for us ladies with that type of figure. Extremely flattering and a lovely range from casual to more formal. I always feel so good in their dresses.

cricketmum84 · 15/08/2019 23:54

@cranstonmanor oh thanks for pointing that out.

I'm pretty sure anyone who has been or is a 24 is fully aware of that!!! Hmm

I’m a size 22 with mega tits and wore this for a wedding recently, so comfortable and easy to wear and got lots of compliments.

ClemDanFango · 15/08/2019 23:56

It’s nice and stretchy literally pull it on and go type thing.
