Ok, so she doesn't know but I WILL find her something for her 60th birthday party in 4 weeks time. She has a tendency to frumpiness and comfort clothes. These are the things you need to know:

She is size 14, no bum but big tum.
Boobs ok but not prone to having massive cleavage on view...I will be taking her bra shopping before the event...someone needs to talk underwired with her
Dark hair in a bob.
Can't wear anything short.
Will want her arms covered

Ok, that's all the don'ts

The dos are...

She has great skin, no turkey neck or that sort of thing!
She's happy with a bit of sparkle.
She can wear black.
She's quite arty so colour is fine too.

Ummm...don't know what else you might need to know. Mrs B...Cod et al ....get to work....

Aaahthankyou

Anything short as in skirt?

MrsBadger · 30/07/2007 16:29

Debenhams personal shopper

I'm seeing wide-legged trousers and a slightly spangly, possibly wrap type, top. Phase Eight are often a good bet as nothing is ever too short or too low cut.

Ceolas · 30/07/2007 16:29

Monsoon?

Lilymaid · 30/07/2007 16:31

Lot's of nice stuff in East (Monsoon's big sister) suitable for that age group (i.e. 40-100)

MrsBadger · 30/07/2007 16:32

now I thought that but they've got a bit, well, edgy recently and nothing on the website grabbed me especially. The B&W print kaftan is pretty cool - not sure how the wrap woudl work on a tum though.

Ceolas · 30/07/2007 16:33

East is very nice. Arty more than black and sparkly I would think.

Ceolas · 30/07/2007 16:34

Black at Monsoon

I think wrap tops can accentuate the spare tyres (speaking as the proud owner of one or two)

what about this?
www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/95216703

good for the tum, black ,sparkly, covers arms, easy to accessorise.

DANCESwithDumbledore · 30/07/2007 16:38

Right, sorry, got distracted by the minor but painful injuries thread!
She is only 5ft 3 so not sure if Kaftan might drown her a bit. Will have a look at Phase 8 and East...ah, had forgotten about East, do love that shop (MIL got gorgeous skirt there) She doesn't really do arty jewellery (despite being arty sort) as very, very sensitive skin so really only gold or pure silver an option.

She has lots of nice jewellery so I'm sure she can accessorise ok or I can make her something.

She doesn't wear alot of bright colours. The big patterns would overpower her (it does me... I'm a shorty too)

did you look at the monsoon dress? Sorry I can't link

DANCESwithDumbledore · 30/07/2007 16:43

Not a bad plan. Think black top needs to have a bit of something too it to make it more dressy. She can pull of black well though
