Nude hose: how bad?

dellacucina · 17/07/2019 08:58

I have nice legs other than the fact that my veins are messed up, meaning it appears I have bruises all over them and I also have big disgusting varicose veins.

I am aware that nude hose aren't a favoured look, but I look best in knee length dresses.

I've tried that spray on stuff but it doesn't work for me?

Is nude hose so tragic that I should give up on skirts and dresses entirely? And what to do about the fact that they can be overly hot in summer?

You look great OP. I wish I had your legs! I often wear black opaques but I have leg hair like barbed wire and sometimes can't be bothered shaving.

BloomedAgain · 18/07/2019 10:07

They look really nice OP

Olajs · 18/07/2019 10:13

I wear nude tights and I don’t look frumpy. My legs are very pale and scarred and without them they look a mess even with the magic spray that everyone loves well applied. I think they make legs look airbrushed and can make an outfit look much better out together. I am not in any way a Middleton type.

keepingbees · 18/07/2019 13:55

They look really good OP! Very natural you can hardly see them. I might look at getting some as my veins aren't good and I don't want them getting worse.

Buddyelf · 18/07/2019 13:59

Do you have tights on in that pic OP? They look great!

Dora26 · 18/07/2019 14:01

Big difference between TAN ( yuk) and NUDE - do the M and S autograph nude and feel polished!

dellacucina · 18/07/2019 14:02

Thanks! Yes, this is to demonstrate what the rights look like.

I've just been going for it (because it's still better than exposing my gross skin/veins) but all the anti-tights rhetoric here has made me a bit anxious!

I wear snag sheers and they're v natural

RolyWatts · 18/07/2019 14:43

You look fab. I'm going to buy some today because I think you look awesome. I wonder if they provide any protection from the sun too.... I'm moley and one of the reasons I don't wear shorts or skirts is because I don't like exposing my self to the sun. Hmmmmm??

MargoLovebutter · 18/07/2019 14:53

Great pair of pins dellacucina - rocking those tights! Smile

dellacucina · 18/07/2019 15:15

@RolyWatts so glad that my insecurity thread has become an inspiration thread instead!

Where I work you are not allowed to show any sort of tattoo so women often wear opaque tights f they have a foot or ankle tattoo.
Also I would not be able to go to work in a dress without tights unless it was at least calf length, maxi dresses are not an option.

1wokeuplikethis · 18/07/2019 16:36

Could make up cover the blotches and veins? Like camouflage type that people use for scars and acne?

Ohyesiam · 18/07/2019 16:40

I last weeks Sunday Times, India Knight reviewed a product that is basically make up for legs which doesn’t smudge, transfer, rub off etc. She raved about it.
I can only remember that it is a Kim Kardashian product ( sorry have I put you off it? ), and it’s costs £28.
Not an everyday solution I guess. It depends on how often you get your legs out.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 18/07/2019 17:34

People rave about Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs on here, which is just like foundation for your legs. It does make your skintone more even, but it doesn't cover prominent veins. I think you'd have to really plaster it on, and that would defeat the object of subtlety rather.

CinnabarRed · 18/07/2019 17:39

I wear stockings in nude, with an old fashioned seam at back. I get many compliments and no-one seems to think them frumpy!

Ineedtoknowit · 18/07/2019 18:09

Your legs look great op but you’re wearing ankle boots, what would you wear on your feet with tights on a really hot day?

Gwenhwyfar · 18/07/2019 20:23

"it has been over 20 degrees for the past couple of weeks and I’m amazed by the number of women going to work in black opaque tights."

I'm one of them. Basically, it can be cold in the morning and it can be cold in the office with the aircon on. Sometimes I wear nude tights, but carry black opaques in my bag in case someone turns the aircon right up or I go out after work and it gets cooler later on.

I started a thread about the same thing recently and got recommendations for Autograph. However, someone mentioned above that they're practically invisible, so maybe I need something else or a thicker denier option because I need to cover my horrible veins.

I wouldn't care about tights being seen under sandals.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 18/07/2019 21:03

Gwen they come in a range of colours for different skin tones, maybe try a shade darker than you'd normally wear? Tbh, I have a quite prominent vein on one leg which is going to show up unless I wear opaques. I've tried to train myself not to care - people probably aren't looking. Or how about the support hose the OP is wearing in the picture?

StarlightLady · 19/07/2019 07:42

OP, looking lovely. You need not have any concerns there.

SpeckledyHen · 19/07/2019 08:00

I wore nude tights yesterday to my son’s graduation and my legs looked a darn sight better than that the badly home tanned ones on display in their thousands there !

dellacucina · 19/07/2019 10:44

I hate to be negative, but I tried the not caring approach, assuming no one is looking at my legs, and people kept asking what happened to cause the bruising. Blush

People can be so damned rude. How are your legs their business, and what happened to tact anyway?

would just note that I said I tried to train myself not to care, but I think people do look at each other and it takes a lot of confidence to genuinely not be bothered. I'm working on it but not there yet!
