I do too - I love my hippy (I prefer to call it hourglass 😉) figure so that’s not the issue, but I just don’t like how it looks when I’m on the wider side...

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 13:22

Ah, no it was the hush chevron maxi - the Paula? I had ordered it but am returning it as its a 12 and its just a bit on the big side. I am on day one of my 800 fast so no point in having clothes that are on the big side to start with. I agree with @Ninkaninus that you need to be very slim and tallish to carry that one off. I also agree with you @Not, I would feel quite self conscious in it. The model rocks it though but I would buy and probably not wear down to deckchair syndrome lol!!

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 13:23

I am pear shaped and that's ok and wouldn't let that put me off.

Ninkaninus · 22/07/2019 13:34

I think they look great on people of all sizes and I don’t generally subscribe to the tyranny of fashion (I will wear what I like whether or not it makes my legs look shorter, my ankles thicker, my boobs bigger/smaller, etc etc) but it’s just me really - I’m still a bit perfectionist about some aspects of my silhouette and that’s one of them.

NotAnActualSheep · 22/07/2019 14:00

Aaaah, that chevron skirt!! Yy, of course. (I've obviously got a toast one track mind...this is supposed to be a hush thread after all!!) Well done on the diet mindset... Hope day 1 isn't too bad.

I know what you mean nink. I don't mind wearing stuff that is a bit "weird", or not really my shape or whatever, as long as it makes me feel happy (in terms of pattern, colour, waftiness or whatever)... The star culottes and the toast paperbag trousers are a bit like that. Probably I could find something more flattering, but then I'd feel a bit like I was wearing a "uniform" of plain, dark coloured, slim cut bottom and tops "to even out" a bottom heavy figure and give a waist. Which is fine, but it does seem a bit limiting... But sometimes how something looks on me, regardless of how lovely/happy it is objectively, actually makes me feel worse about myself, which kind of defeats the object!

SoyYo · 22/07/2019 15:43

I’m feeling hot hot hot (sing along now) wish we’d stayed in Norfolk with the sea breezes 😅 it’s 30C and still rising in East Anglia

never the espadrilles are lovely but agree a bit £ for something that won’t get a lot of wear or if it does will ruin fast. I love all the Toast tops specially the one with the batik style leaves in inky blue, lovely!

Huff the jumper looked lovely on you so hope you can get it fixed, such a shame if it develops a hole, hope your Dior Exhibition visit is amazing and good on you ella for finally getting a jumper from Toast: look forward to your feedback and photo.

melen sorry to read things are not going well...we are here for you just like you’ve unfailingly been for us all with encouragement and support Flowers

cherries another big Flowers for you with that bravissimo experience. It’ll all be okay in the end but in the meantime I thought your DH booking that holiday was super caring. Really hope you are feeling more upbeat today.

not Yeay to lentils! I’ll post my recipe here then since it’s a popular topic Grin and I agree with you and nink on wearing what makes one feel great 👍 Luckily for me I don’t like polo necks (stifling) but if I did I wouldn’t let my large norks spoil the fun as an example...this is why even when sometimes tempted to have my “colours” done in the end I don’t do it as I’d hate to be restricted to only certain colours...I think in any case most women gravitate towards styles they think are flattering on them? Well, those who like S&B as there are many who couldn’t give a stuff and all power to them too!

SoyYo · 22/07/2019 15:45

I think laska’s flatbed truck got stuck in her drive Grin...seriously now really good to see you back Smile

SoyYo · 22/07/2019 15:48

And @GinandGingerBeer I do think of you and your sleep woes. Really Do Hope the new treatment has given you some relief and quality rest 🙏

justilou1 · 22/07/2019 15:57

@Sheep, Jeebus, I hope they don't throw the alphabet in, I haven't done long division since the late 1980's and have rarely needed to count past four in my previous professional life! If I am honest, I had a conductor doing the counting for me most of the time, too. I just went along with the flappy guy with the stick and the interesting hairdo. Don't think that'll fly with meds.

SoyYo · 22/07/2019 16:06

@justi I feel your pain!🤯 I’m not a numbers person either but can use xcel and it’s a life saviour...good luck with it, I’m sure once you get stuck in it it’ll all make sense again 🤓

SoyYo · 22/07/2019 16:07

flappy guy with stick and interesting hairdo 😂 perfect description of an orchestra conductor Grin

justilou1 · 22/07/2019 16:08

Thanks @Soy! Glad I'm not alone!!! (We can't use Excel - we need to learn how to calculate medications. Most of it's pretty obvious so far, but it's the first week of the subject and I've tripped over my brain already a couple of times!!!)

twosoups1972 · 22/07/2019 16:50

Hello from Stockholm Smile

Arrived this morning, hotel lovely, weather nice so far but dd3 has moaned NON STOP. Her tummy hurts, her legs hurt, she’s hot, she’s cold, she hates her clothes/hair. It’s like having a toddler. Anyway I’m hoping she’ll be ok tomorrow after a good night’s sleep.

@NotAnActualSheep Lion King was fab, you really should see it. The CGI was amazing.

Laska2Meryls · 22/07/2019 16:53

Just in from the garden (we are lucky because its huge and secluded, but its also basically a field... So go away for few weeks and its overgrown..I've been chopping bramble which seems to have suddenly taken over several hedges .. so am beautifully scratched up

Still no postie... Sad, I've had an email saying they are holding post until 24th.. I'm sure I said today, but ah well..DH wont be here on 24th [wink!] Grin

NotAnActualSheep · 22/07/2019 17:03

Would love the lentil recipe soy - thanks! Yes - I agree that things that make us happy are often things that make us look good; "our colours" or neckline or whatever. But sometimes we can go a bit off piste and not worry if something could be a bit more flattering if it passes the "happy" test.

flappy guy... lolololol Grin Yup - that pretty much sums up every conductor I've known (not that many to be fair...). Prob not a good guide for medication, though, you're right... ("ah crap - I've lost count..right...I'll just hope the flutes remember to come in at the right place and then I'll count 3 and I'm back in...oh - what do you mean we don't prescribe flutes?")

I think I was off school when we were taught long division and I've never picked it up since. That's why calculators were invented. It's odd, as I'm quite "scientifically" minded - but every now and again I try to do a simple conversion between two units or something for work... sometimes it's fine and sometimes I end up in a crumpled heap of molar weights, british thermal units and banana equivalent doses of radiation (or something...). Then half an hour and several sheets of paper later I decide it's fine and I don't really need to do the calculation anyway and cite the first unit I had and hope people don't notice....

soups - excellent - I'll start working on persuading DS that it's his idea to go to the cinema to see it, then.. Hope your DD begins to relax a bit and let you relax! Possibly she's just anxious at the change of routine/ not knowing what's going to happen etc - and tired as well as you say? Does sound exhausting though..poor you. Is there any Gin ?

Laska2Meryls · 22/07/2019 17:03

time for a Seedlip (no calories) and low cal tonic , me thinks Smile

I started the Fast 800 diet today , but I am still on Greek time..so am ravenous for my dinner now!!

I bought a Moulinex blender today , (£££ but was from Lakeland with a voucher) so it will arrive sometime this week.. I am going to go down the home made low cal/ carb smoothies route for at least one meal during the first few weeks. never I think the Clare Bailey (and Justine Patterson /Michael Moseley) Fast 800 recipe book is worth getting , and it has all the new 'rules' in (and some really nice recipes) ..

Back to work tomorrow.. Sad but its only 2 months before I put my notice in.. Am planning to leave in early Dec !

NotAnActualSheep · 22/07/2019 17:07

Sounds like a productive (if scratchy) day laska ! Maybe you planned ahead so your post-holding would end to coincide with a day DH was away? Forward thinking and all that. Kind of thing I'd do

MabelMoo23 · 22/07/2019 17:09

Hi all! It’s been a really really long time since I was on the thread (plus a name change, was previously Brummiegirl) - I’ve been on the no spend bench for a while - childcare is taking most of our money at the moment so have been trying to be good. Plus I kept trying stuff on that I loved and then it looked rubbish (Kensington dress I’m looking at you)

Anyway I digress, I’ve been given some JL vouchers from work and I’ve been debating the Hush harems for ages. What are they like??

I’ve got the Amie joggers and as a size 14 went for a medium but they seem to be too loose and wondered what the Harems were like? There is no way I’m a small! I’m also quite short so worried they’ll be too long.

I know they are a Hush staple so someone must have them!!

Any thoughts would be gratefully appreciated

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 17:10

Ah..thats a shame @Laska. Still, not that long to wait :)

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 17:14

Me too @Laska2Meryls but I have had a headache all day and I am now starving. Planning on having chicken with parma ham and some salad. So looking forward to that. Will be heading to the kitchen any minute!
Im stuck for drinks though! What can I have to drink? I usually just have diluting juice. What does everybody have to drink with their meals?

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 17:16

I have the harems. Definitely size down. I haven't worn them this year but they are so comfy.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 17:18

Mine are the cropped ones. I have them in black and grey. I really like them. They look cute with a tee and sandals. I am a 12/14 atm and trying to sort out the 14 bit! I have the xs!!! So they are pretty large. If you are a 12 or a 14 you could go for the small. Xs if you are a 10

MabelMoo23 · 22/07/2019 17:20

Thanks never I made that mistake with the Amie joggers and they go a bit baggy and saggy!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 17:22

When I bought the xs in the harems I was a slimish 12. I would go with the small if you are a 14

neveradullmoment99 · 22/07/2019 17:24

If you are worried about the length, you could go for the cropped ones.
