Just the person.Just wondering what 'diet' you are following @soyYo. Is it the blood sugar one. Its just that I have been reading about it and it says to cut out pasta and rice. Sounds a bit low carb to me. What are you doing as I know you must kind of like similar mediterranean food as me.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:18

I know at my age I wont stick a diet that wont fit in with my life!!! as I wont stick to it.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:19

I think I would prefer the blue one. So thanks everyone. Not sure about the gold woven through it.

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:19

soups obviously comments were for DD. Also be careful with Cantu curl cream, it’s pretty heavy and can flatten hair so only use a tiny bit (I’ve gone off it, it’s too much for my curls. I find leaving a bit of conditioner on my ends in the final rinse and applying gel is more than enough for styling)

justi hope your “winter” blanket is working out well Grin I know what you mean about houses built for crazy hot weather suddenly becoming ice boxes for a month or two when the temperatures drop below 20C.

nink great tips for soups and really like the scarf. Hope you’re feeling brighter with each passing day

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:27

@neveradullmoment99 it was the 800 fast that laska recommended. Low carb except for pulses/lentils.
I did it strictly for the first 4 weeks to give myself a kickstart. Always one day off when I ate whatever I fancied (in moderation including carbs).
Now I’m more doing 3/4 days/week low carb/no more than 1000 cals and the rest of the time normal food but keeping carb portions relatively small (well except Friday night when we had fish n chips as it’s exceptional here on the Norfolk coast Blush)
I found I had to go really strict and relaxed the rules little by little. Lots of veg and fish/chicken. I think for me bread is the main culprit so I’ve more or less cut it out and have Ryvita instead...plenty of olive oil in salads/veg. Fruit in moderation.
A G&T or wine is okay but not every day. Omelettes and scrambled eggs were a saviour.
Hope this helps?

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:34

That's great. I like the idea of a one day off. My dh want to do it to but if its too rigid I doubt he would stick to it. Thanks for the advice. Is the book this one?

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:35

Its bread, pasta and rice for me and I love sweet things.

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:35

Sorry to say I’ve not had any pasta or much rice either since starting 😰but I made pasta sauce for my sons and used some of it on top of chicken breasts with mozzarella baked in oven it’s yummy and low carb while giving you a taste of pasta. I find I can have pizza once a week too! Which is a consolation for the pasta. I buy some very thin pizza bases they sell at Tesco (so low carb compared to the prepared ones) and put our own toppings which is healthier and less fat as you don’t need huge amounts of mozzarella and can pile up the veg after sautéing in olive oil. Just passata for tomato base.
No sweets or buiscuits or anything processed though (but I’ve had one ice cream! Yes I did! Grin
I don’t have a sweet tooth so that bit is easy for me. I prefer to swap for a wine if I want a treat

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:40

No it’s the Dr Moseley book @neveradullmoment99, I’ll link in a mo. But the one you linked to is also great.
It really depends on what you like tbh and no point doing a diet you can’t stick to. I’ve not stuck to the 800 fast rigidly as it was too low cal for me so after 4 weeks I started adding more cals - and treats like the weekly homemade pizza and even the odd restaurant meal but I’ve kept to the low carb principles without being anal about it...

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:41

My biggest think will be sweet things! I don't really drink. So not bothered about wine as I rarely have any.
Can you link me to the book you have for recipe ideas?

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:42

but I’ve kept to the low carb principles without being anal about it...

and that's exactly what I need to do!

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:47

But honestly never I’ve only used the Mediterranean chicken recipe from the book. To be honest if I can have pulses I’m okay because to me they’re like carbs.
So for example I’d make a curry with whole lentils / chick peas and boys and DH would have with brown rice and me with cauliflower rice. Or a chilli with just a handful of corn chips and no rice.
Plenty of broccoli and yummy salads really helps and if I miss bread I have 3/4 rye Ryvitas

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:53

That's good to know. So its just like having some protein with salad and that's it. Its kind of common sense? I don't tend to use a lot of lentils etc, so would kind of be stuck for what to make.

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:54

These are the thin pizza bases ready to roll and they don’t stick either!
They’re brill for a weekly treat

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:55

Thanks for the link. May need to stock up on the Ryvita and lentils!

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:56

That's great for the pizza. Will look out for that at Tescos!

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 11:56

I’ll pm you lentil recipes if you like. I grew up with a lot of lentil stews (Spanish style) and they’re so filling and lovely!
You have to buy whole lentils not the split lentils. I love them and my vegan boys appreciate them too

neveradullmoment99 · 21/07/2019 11:57

Excellent. That would be brilliant :)

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 12:00

Whole lentils only take 40 mins to cook so for a stew or curry they’re perfect and a good dupe for rice 👍 you basically rinse and add to any sauce you’re cooking. Then you can add tin of chick peas or butter beans etc to bill a chilli, etc.
On a basic veg and tomato sauce.
The spices or herbs change the taste.
I’m always experimenting and making up my own style lentil based sauces (before the diet too but now I omit the potatoes).

SoyYo · 21/07/2019 12:02

“Bulk a chilli” not “bill”
I’ll pm you later this eve some ideas, off for a beach walk now 😘

Ellapaella · 21/07/2019 12:04
