I am so sick of my clothes and style (or lack of)

Trying to be more open minded about what I wear and try out new style!

What items of clothing have you bought recently and had lots of compliments on? Please send links!

It's mainly that the colour suits me, but I also have a similar one from last year in navy and everyone says how nice it is.

sleepwhenidie · 07/07/2019 21:50

These skirts kemitelford.com

Outsomnia · 07/07/2019 21:51

No one cares what we wear, they are all looking at themselves always.

Sorry to be so blunt, but what the heck is fashion anyway? Following the herd, ok.

Be yourself and enjoy wearing what you feel is comfortable and good for YOU.

sleepwhenidie · 07/07/2019 21:53

that's helpful Hmm

Pooshy · 07/07/2019 22:04

Outsomnia, I know what you're saying but it's more that I'm struggling to find any clothes I want to buy at the moment so I'm looking for ides

Pooshy,

I did not mean to offend you. Sorry.

I am sure there will be more helpful posters along very soon! Wish you well.

Another dress that had people come up to ask where I got it:

Love a dress, one-item-dressing Grin, can't do capsule wardrobe stuff, too complicated, need a more simple approach = dress

A plain top, but with a fabulous necklace.... Oliver Bonas has a great selection www.oliverbonas.com/jewellery/penelope-pink-layered-disc-collar-necklace-244147

A very bogstandard knee length dress from Jigsaw with a tiny flower print. I think it’s very ordinary but it gets compliments every time I wear it.

mrssmiling · 10/07/2019 09:08

Snap re tiny flower prints - if the design is really pretty people notice it.
I have a couple of flowered shirts from Benetton which always get compliments - not this year’s designs, but there are some similar styles on the website.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 10/07/2019 11:24

I’ve recently been wearing tops with bold patterns having always worn fairly plain clothes and get lots of compliments on them, I feel a bit more confident too. Other than that it’s mostly jewellery people comment on as I like to find unusual bits when I’m on holiday.
I’m not that bothered about clothes but bags and accessories are my thing.

Chanellta · 10/07/2019 12:23

I love that Oliver Bonas necklace.
I recently bought some sandals from New Look in mustard and loads of people have commented on them, I only go in there with my teenager but they do have some decent shoe styles for summer. I bought this bag after a rec on here and a couple of people have said how lovely it is, it looks way more expensive than it was so a good find www.myexquisiteshop.com/products/vera-pele-small-bag-ps190

Yoga pants and a hyacinth t-shirt, black gizehs

DonkeyHohtay · 10/07/2019 13:13

My orange wool coat from Hobbs. It's a lovely colour. Superb quality, fits me perfectly. And it cost me £20 bnwt in a charity shop.

Ellapaella · 10/07/2019 13:44

All the things I get compliments on are usually the cheap bits from Primark. To be honest OP it's about what style and fit are good for you and your shape/colouring. What looks great in one person may not be right for another. I'd highly recommend getting a style analysis and going from there. There's a great Facebook page called 'The styled by Susie tribe' which is fantastic for this kind of thing.

Ellapaella · 10/07/2019 13:46

I totally care about what other people wear., not in a judgy way but in an interested way. I'm fascinated by people who know how to dress well - I pay a lot of attention to what others are wearing and how they present themselves as I find it really interesting.

trackingmedown · 10/07/2019 13:48

There was a very long thread on here last year about harem pant / flying squirrel style jumpsuits that cost about £10 on Amazon. The general consensus was they were hideous but comfortable. I bought some intending to use them as loungewear but eventually started wearing them outside the house. I have lost count of the number of compliments I have received on them.

PippiDeLena · 10/07/2019 14:20

Do you have a link to the lounging jumpsuits @trackingmedown ? They sound like something I'd like.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 10/07/2019 14:49

@PippiDeLena I think it’s this ]]
