I am so sick of my clothes and style (or lack of)

Trying to be more open minded about what I wear and try out new style!

What items of clothing have you bought recently and had lots of compliments on? Please send links!

Yes, they’re the ones.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 10/07/2019 15:09

I’m quite tempted to get a couple, menopausal so very hot and need comfortable things to lounge around in.

I have that bag @chanelta it’s lovely isn’t it?

Shitonthebloodything · 10/07/2019 21:15

I second the styled by Susie FB group recommendation. I recently had a style analysis from her (although you don't have to to join the group) and it's completely changed my attitude to shopping and I've felt good in clothes for the first time in years after following her advice over the last couple of weeks. Highly recommend it.

PippiDeLena · 10/07/2019 22:15

Thanks LuxuryWoman2018 It looks so comfy!

StealthNinjaMum · 10/07/2019 22:22

I think a pp mentioned it but it's wearing stuff that flatters you more than what the item is. I have lost a lot of weight this year and bought a whole new wardrobe of clothes I love. The things that get the most compliments are a pair of darkish high waisted skinny jeans. I think they make my legs slim and hide my Mumtum. To me they're the plainest and least interesting thing I've bought but they must suit me.

Cocolapew · 10/07/2019 22:23

I've got a lot of compliments when I wear this

It does look comfy pippi not sure I’d get any compliments but looks lovely to be cool and comfortable around the house. Would look great on some people but not me sadly.

jennymac · 11/07/2019 16:11

Rather than a particular item of clothing, I tend to get compliments when I wear anything in either a forest or emerald green. Those colours must just make me look better in general so know I keep an eye out for clothes in these colours.

I just went down to a beach in Barbados wearing one of the harem jump suits and someone stopped me to admire it and asked where I bought it.

IhaveALooBrush · 11/07/2019 18:32

These

I was wearing them with a satin camisole top and white plimsoll type shoes.
I was actually strutting along chuffed with the fact I've found a holy grail of strapless bras that works, but someone stopped me and asked about my trousers.
Oh well.
My g cups looked lovely and supported in my sphagetti strap camisole too, but they didn't mention that. Angry

TheOutside · 11/07/2019 18:39

@IhaveALooBrush

You have to share what the bra is!!

Ninkaninus · 11/07/2019 18:41

Which strapless bra is it??

(Also busty, also looking for the holy grail)

DryWhiteagainW · 11/07/2019 18:47

Solitude I have that Uniqlo dress and love the gingham, unfortunately sold out in my size......love a dress too. Let me know any others you find (because I’m lazy !!!)

IhaveALooBrush · 11/07/2019 18:53

It's a wonderbra one off bravissimo. I'm a 28ff/g but the back sizes come up tiny so I got a 30F. It's not the comfiest of things but it doesn't fall down and does the job.

I can't believe my autocorrect autofailed with spaghetti.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 11/07/2019 18:54

Cocolapew, love the sleeves on that top!

DryWhiteagainW I ended up buying the uniqlo dress in another colour too Grin am not very imaginative. Love the fabric, weighty but cool. And it looks like it's from Toast, at a fraction of the price Grin

Ninkaninus · 11/07/2019 18:55

Oh ok, I’ve had that one in the past and yes it was very good. Maybe I should try another one in my current size!

BringMeThatHorizon · 11/07/2019 19:24

These - they look much better on than I thought they would!

My H&R London dresses, I have three and every time I wear them people always say how much they like them.

This dress in both red and black, and this one which is great because you can wear the pieces separately.

Another thing is this skirt, which I love. It's very Slytherin-y/Snape-y, which is why I bought it in the first place. Grin

TheHoundsofLove · 11/07/2019 20:10

I always get compliments whenever I wear any sort of dress (even very casual ones). probably because I'm usually a bit of a scruff in jeans or denim shorts I definitely need more dresses in my life! Wink

IhaveALooBrush · 11/07/2019 21:28

Actually the thing I've had repeated compliments off is an army surplus jacket I got off ebay for £15. It's a crop length battle dress jacket, really good quality wool.
Army surplus is gold for bargains. Their fabrics are usually better quality than the high street and they are cheap. They're also fairly simple construction wise so very easy to alter/get altered.
I've had a load of comments last winter over my coat. It's an Italian ex army great coat. Its beautifully cut and good quality fabric.

harriers · 11/07/2019 21:29

Oh ffs @Rathkelter I'm now on the Oliver Bonas website filling up my basket with beautiful necklaces that I cannot afford Envy

Lardlizard · 11/07/2019 22:26

Simple white cotton dress

LuxuryWoman2018 · 12/07/2019 08:51

Oh my, I love that dress Sapphire fabulous

Grumpyoldblonde · 14/07/2019 16:31

If anyone has that harem jumpsuit, do you put it on by stepping into it? ( I’m thinking practicality like going to the loo)
