To think DD's graduation dress is lovely?

My 21 year old DD has her graduation soon.

She ordered this lovely dress (see pic) and I've told her I like it but she's telling me she thinks it looks like a wedding dress and that she's too fat to wear it (despite my reassurances that she doesn't!) Excuse the background folks but,

What do you think?

To think DD's graduation dress is lovely?

I wish I was as fat as her! She looks beautiful and definitely doesn't scream bridal to me. Could you suggest colourful shoes and accessories to break up the whiteness of it all?

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 04/07/2019 20:20

Gorgeous! Far from being 'too fat'
Not weddingy, more summery celebration!

It looks lovely

ElevenOhFive · 04/07/2019 20:21

It’s a beautiful dress and she has an enviable figure, it looks great!

FcknHellAlan · 04/07/2019 20:22

She ain't fat! I remember thinking i was fat at 21 sigh

Sizeofalentil · 04/07/2019 20:22

She's certainly not too fat! Not by a long shot. She has a gorgeous figure and lovely toned arms.

The dress is beautiful but is very white. A pink or blue pashmina or bolero and nice shoes will soften the look

moreismore · 04/07/2019 20:23

Gorgeous! Try with some brightly coloured shoes and accessories.
I also wish I was as enormously fat as she clearly is... Grin

Nameusernameuser · 04/07/2019 20:26

I'm the same age and I love it, she looks amazing! She should put it with some soft pink heels and clutch bag, then it'll match a black gown over the top too!

hugoagogo · 04/07/2019 20:26

She's not fat in the least.
Sometimes for graduation you're told to wear something with buttons though, something to do with fixing the gown thing over...

BendydickCuminsnatch · 04/07/2019 20:27

Aw she looks lovely. I’ve never had a figure as good as that. It’s a very summery dress, not bridal.
But she does need to feel comfortable and confident so perhaps it’s not the dress for her!

DuchessSybilVimes · 04/07/2019 20:28

I was just going to say about the button thing! Can she find a jacket to wear over it for the gown to attach to? Otherwise there'll be a whole load of fannying about with safety pins.

Americanah · 04/07/2019 20:28

Gorgeous dress and she looks stunning. Oh to be young again!

User10fuckingmillion · 04/07/2019 20:28

Too fat Shock Shock Shock

She’s bloody tiny! And it’s gorgeous

WhamBamThankyouHam · 04/07/2019 20:31

Beautiful! She is nowhere near fat!
Looked at the Photo before reading and Bridal didn't even cross my mind, hope she had a wonderful graduation Smile

sweetnsuga123 · 04/07/2019 20:31

Aww thankyou all what lovely kind comments!

Im glad you agree Im going to hopefully persuade her to keep it!

Ah yes to be young again and to be worried about being fat. I tell her she isn't but they can't be persuaded can they Hmm

Yes I think if we add some colour it will look better and perhaps a jacket.

Beautiful dress, more elegant summer dress than bridal IMO.

Your daughter is not fat! She has a gorgeous figure and should feel very comfortable in the dress. It even suits her skin tone (white is not a kind colour to wear).

MmeBufo · 04/07/2019 20:49

It looks great on her, she's got a lovely figure and can certainly carry it off.

If she doesn't feel comfortable in it she should take it back and keep looking until she finds something she feels good in. It's a special day, she shouldn't feel obliged to wear something just because you/we like it.

MmeBufo · 04/07/2019 20:50

Oh. Graduation as in cap and gown? Lovely as it is, it'd be a nightmare with a gown.

stucknoue · 04/07/2019 20:51

It's pretty but for graduation she will need a jacket as the gowns are designed to fit with one, here dark clothing is requested

Benjispruce · 04/07/2019 20:54

It's beautiful and her figure looks fabulous in it.

Bluthbanana · 04/07/2019 20:55

The dress is lovely, and your DD looks fab in it.

I wish I was as fat as I thought I was when I graduated

EdWinchester · 04/07/2019 21:01

It's an OK dress but not suitable for graduation. The hood attaches to a button on a shirt or blouse.

TenAndFive · 04/07/2019 21:03

She looks lovely, the dress is very pretty.

Disfordarkchocolate · 04/07/2019 21:03

It's lovely. Has she checked how her robe will attach, mine was very heavy (and hot). I bet you are so proud.

EleanorOalike · 04/07/2019 21:04

I wore dresses to both my graduations with no problems (I HATE shirts). I wore a brooch on the middle of my dresses and the hood attached to that. The dress is lovely and your daughter is beautiful - happy graduation day when it comes!

Ohyesiam · 04/07/2019 21:09

I graduated ( cap and gown) in a summer dress with no front button.

if there was a dress code she would know it.
