Shoes and bag to go with this dress?

And is the dress even very nice?! It’s coming tomorrow so it might end up going back - I’m in 2 minds but not sure what colours to go with for the accessories if I keep it.

Shoes and bag to go with this dress?

I'd go for a straw bag or a darker pink than the dress or possibly navy. If I went for a non navy bag I'd have navy shoes. My eyes are terrible I can't make out the other colours in the dress which is very pretty.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 30/06/2019 12:13

I'd probably go for nude shoes or strappy in a similar pink or silver. And then a bag of similar pink or even a lilac (I think the dress has lilac parts? Hard to see properly!)

The dress is really really pretty! I just wouldn't do any vibrant stand out colours with it. Anything light pink or neutral would work nicely :)

LuxuryWoman2018 · 30/06/2019 12:27

I see the red, green and purple now so you have great options, I’m wearing a similar pink to a wedding and bought a dusky pink bag which tones well.

CakeNinja · 30/06/2019 13:18

I’m terrible at matching or coordinating anything colourwise. I’m not colour blind but I just don’t really know what compliments or not.
I like the idea of nude shoes but I’m not sure a nude bag would be nice - it’s for a wedding so I won’t be carrying my bag much, it’ll mainly be on the floor or on a table somewhere so I’m not too concerned about that but I will definitely need one.

I’d go nude bag and shoes or colours which match with the greens and purples of the design. Love the dress. What’s the occasion?

LuxuryWoman2018 · 30/06/2019 13:29

Well, don’t try to match shoes and bag. If you go for nude shoes then you can have a bag in any tone in the dress, again straw would look good too. I’m assuming the dress is in a floaty material?

Something like this

Or a clutch bag in whatever colour you prefer
This is my bag i bought in dusky pink and lovely leather www.myexquisiteshop.com/products/camila-small-shoulder-bagel-bag

TheRL I still can’t quite make up my mind if I love it or think it’s a bit frumpy! I’m sure I’ll know which once I’ve tried it on. It’s for my mums wedding in a few weeks time.
Luxury yes it’s floaty. On the Asos website they have little videos of most of the clothes being worn so you can see it from all angles on a person and it’s quite swishy and generally very light and loose.

OP posts:
LuxuryWoman2018 · 30/06/2019 13:42

It’s not frumpy at all, but be careful not to ‘frump’ it with matching accessories if you see what I mean.

CakeNinja · 30/06/2019 15:24

I think that’s what I’m worried about. That I’ll be too matchy matchy.
I’ll report back tomorrow and will know if it’s staying or being sent back.
Any other suggestions for something similar? I need some kind of sleeves as I don’t like my upper arms and preferably some form of leg covering as I have some horrible silvery stretch marks on my calfs I’d rather hide!! So attractive Confused

Would you consider a jumpsuit? There’s some styles here suitable for a wedding www.phase-eight.com/sale/jumpsuits/

Im not saying any are necessarily what you’d like but just to give you the idea, I like the munroe grey one.

CakeNinja · 30/06/2019 15:38

I’ve tried a few on before. I’m not against wearing one at all but I haven’t found one that fits me properly and has a good shape on me.
I’ve got long legs but quite a short torso so things are often the wrong proportion on me.
I’ll have a look, I tend to buy phase 8 stuff for work and did get a couple of bits in this recent sale... thanks.

That Munro one is gorgeous but only now available in a size 8 which sadly I am not!! More of a 14 girl Grin

HollyBollyBooBoo · 30/06/2019 15:43

The dress is beautiful!

LuxuryWoman2018 · 30/06/2019 15:50

Shame about the munro, it is very elegant. I agree the dress is lovely though, you could possibly go longer skirt and top if it's not suitable I guess.

Plump82 · 30/06/2019 16:59

I dont think a straw bag or across the body bag would go at all. It needs something more delicate since its such a floaty dress. I think something metallic. Silver strappy shoes and a bag. I love the dress by the way and its not frumpy at all.

Plump82 · 30/06/2019 17:00

Something like this bag www.very.co.uk/accessorize-tabitha-embellished-clutch/1600368773.prd?sku=sku21647156&cm_mmc=google--PLA+-+Generic--Women+-+Bags+%26+Purses--PRODUCT_GROUP_p33748800453[AdID]&utm_campaign=Generic_Women+-+Bags+%26+Purses&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwu-HoBRD5ARIsAPIPencJT2zlhClBCSrNx_HPj6ub3Dc0jzuyQIDdFdiv4e3PAOQWoiZXiL4aAlLMEALw_wcB

I think silver might be the way to go with this. I’d never have thought about silver, this is why I find MN so bloody helpful!

OP posts:
LillithsFamiliar · 30/06/2019 23:05

Is there silver or gold woven through the dress? If so I have a dress with similar colours and I've worn shoes and accessories in light gold. I've also worn it with deep coral shoes and clutch.

CakeNinja · 30/06/2019 23:36

I think some of the embroidery is both silver and gold but will know for sure tomorrow.

OP posts:
LuxuryWoman2018 · 01/07/2019 14:47

Just wondered if the dress had arrived.

CakeNinja · 01/07/2019 15:32

Yes, literally just tried it on.
It’s absolutely beautiful but too tight across my shoulders and chubby arms, I’m quite broad. Gutted, and back to the drawing board with less than 3 weeks to go Sad

Have a look on next, they have some quite nice dresses, this? www.next.co.uk/g8243s3#924814

CakeNinja · 01/07/2019 16:22

I’ve had a look at your links, thank you for taking the time to add them. The trouble is, they all look like the kind of things I would wear to work, not quite fancy enough for a wedding.

OP posts:
OhTheRoses · 01/07/2019 16:28

As it's your mother's wedding I think you need something more formal.

CakeNinja · 01/07/2019 16:31

Yes I think so too. I’m so annoyed and frustrated I could bloody cry Confused
