Shoes and bag to go with this dress?

And is the dress even very nice?! It’s coming tomorrow so it might end up going back - I’m in 2 minds but not sure what colours to go with for the accessories if I keep it.

I’m not sure what your budget is, but have you looked at Needle and Thread or Self Portrait Studio? Sales might help you out. SP only go up to a 14 but their dresses are fabulous. Slightly more formal than the one you chose but very well made and investment pieces.

CakeNinja · 01/07/2019 18:47

I did check out N&T a while ago, I do find it’s generally a bit frilly and flouncy for me but I’ll have another look.
Yeah SP runs small on me, I have a dress in a 14 from there that I can’t fit into anymore so I’ll give them a swerve but thanks for the suggestions.
There’s no real budget, I’m happy to spend whatever on something I like but actually don’t want to spend loads on something that’s so grand I’ll never wear to anything else.

Have you looked at Debenhams, there’s quite a lot of stuff I don’t like but some of the Debut dresses in particular are nice, the website has quite good filters e.g wedding guest, party etc.

Noseynails · 01/07/2019 19:57

This or this for bag and this for shoes.

CakeNinja · 01/07/2019 21:29

Will have another trawl through the Debenhams website. I think it’s going to require an actual trip to the shops which I was hoping to avoid as I hate shopping Grin
Nosey, lovely bags and shoes but the dress is going back!

Go to boots and buy some leg makeup

Look on ASOS for silver dance shoes - I’ll find a pic

Sorry my mistake! Try quiz

Like the second monsoon one, not sure about the design of the pattern on the first.
Leg makeup?! Like that sally Hansen airbrush thing? Not sure how you put that stuff on and keep it there without transfer? And will it cover stretchmarks?
Good thinking though...

Yes it’s water proof, didn’t stain my black dress, looks natural.

Get some and do a test run.

Not sure if brand it was £9 ish

LuxuryWoman2018 · 02/07/2019 17:17

I always forget about Monsoon although I used to like their clothes.

I think I need leg makeup too, I just wonder how easy it is to apply and if it covers veins.

CakeNinja · 06/07/2019 23:35

Okay, I have 2 updates for you.

  1. I have found a dress. It’s boring but it fits and looks okay.
  2. sally hansens airbrush legs - what’s all that about? Purchased 2 different products, cream and one spray. Both crap, BRIGHT orange (wtf??), both transfer like hell and neither of them cover up a hint of imperfection. What the hell is everyone raving about with this stuff? Shock

LuxuryWoman2018 · 07/07/2019 07:59

Where did you get the dress in the end?
I’m glad you said that about the leg make up, I wondered if it would transfer so I won’t bother with it.

CakeNinja · 07/07/2019 09:23

www.coast-stores.com/p/florence-print-overlayer-dress/2139098?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI47XQkrCi4wIVkUPTCh0omg4JEAQYAyABEgLSyfD_BwE

Got it from Coast. Boring and safe but I was getting even more panicky!!
I must be missing a trick with the SH stuff - everyone raves about it and yet the lotion was gloopy and sticky while the spray was less so but streaky. And both were like an Oompa Loompa shade of orange Shock
I’m £25 down now!! It doesn’t even cover a small mark on my wrist (where I tested is before putting it on my legs), it’s beyond useless!!

Could you order the original dress a size bigger and get it altered down if needed?

CakeNinja · 07/07/2019 09:58

Okay I’ve had another go just using the spray and actually it’s not as bad as the lotion stuff. It’s not amazing but I think the hideous orange colour from that one was still on my hands when I slapped the spray on the other leg (I did one of each Grin ). I’m wondering if i ‘set it’ with hairspray it might not rub off onto my black dress?

OP posts:
CakeNinja · 07/07/2019 09:59

Falafel I looked but it’s out of stock in the bigger sizes and it seems to be more of a boutiquey type place where they don’t really make clothes for bigger women. Never heard of them before but when it came I checked the label and went on to their website to see if I could get hold of it there.

Both crap, BRIGHT orange (wtf??)

Yes! I'm always baffled by it being highly recommended on here. The lightest shade is about 6 shades darker than my natural skin colour and as orange as Donald Trump. It wouldn't dry properly and sunk into every pore. Presumed it was just me and got some St Tropez wash off stuff instead.
