What do you think of this top/what would you pair with it?

It’s for a hen do.

What do you think of this top/what would you pair with it?

I don't actually like it very much at all. I think those shoulderless tops are flattering. It would work with jeans.

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2019 01:44

I agree. Cold shoulder tops aren't nice or flattering on anybody. Sorry. Wear with a nice pair of jeans if you must.

HennyPennyHorror · 24/06/2019 02:04

If you want a longer line top but don't want to be completely covered up, choose a top with either a low cut neck if you have a big bust or a slash neck if you're small busted and have some arm visible.

Not random chunks of shoulder. It alters the eye's line and doesn't work on anyone as DramaApaca says.

RubberTreePlant · 24/06/2019 03:06

It says 'glam blonde over 60' to me. I'd expect to see it with white jeans and high heels.

LouiseEH · 24/06/2019 08:01

Hmm guess that’s a no then :( thank you for your responses though.

I’m a size 14/16 with quite bad body issues. I’m considering not going at this point as I can’t find anything that is nice and also cheap :(

Runningonempty84 · 24/06/2019 08:06

You must have something in your wardrobe that would do? No need to buy anything new for a hen do, surely. Post pics and we could help.

PrincessSarene · 24/06/2019 08:11

Personally, if it’s something you’d feel comfortable and confident wearing, then I think you should go for it. I’d pair it with smartish jeans and then heels or strappy sandals.

LouiseEH · 24/06/2019 08:19

I don’t own any nice clothes unfortunately, they all have holes and/or stains on or are too causal for a hen do :/

The dress code is “dress to impress” so I don’t think jeans would be appropriate

OP posts:
outreach29 · 24/06/2019 08:21

I think it looks quite glam OP and a nice 'going out' top.

I guess maybe I'm not as knowledgable in this matters as some of the others on this thread Confused

I reckon it would look good paired with some dark/smart jeans or well fitting black trousers and then sandals with sparkly bits on?

Don't let the comments on here put you off - go out and have fun!!

PeriComoToes · 24/06/2019 08:23

Better off with a nice dress, try Asos

outreach29 · 24/06/2019 08:23

Just seen your update - smart black trousers it is then. Next or M and S aren't too expensive.

HennyPennyHorror · 24/06/2019 08:26

What size and figure are you OP? What's your budget? Twenty quid or 200? Whatever it is, we can find something lovely for you. That top is not going to flatter and paired with "smart black trousers" will be very boring.

Runningonempty84 · 24/06/2019 08:29

How much have you got to spend, OP?

How about something like this dress? In the sale, available in a 16, will go with any sandals or bag you have already, and will be super-flattering:

Runningonempty84 · 24/06/2019 08:32

Or an alternative option - this one is also in the sale, and in black. Again, will go with everything, and can be easily glammed up with sandals, earrings and a nice bag:

DailyMailcanfuckthefuckoff · 24/06/2019 08:32

People have been rather blunt on this thread, but what a lovely comment, outreach29.

If you don't want to wear jeans OP, I know H&M have some smart fitted trousers (various colours and patterns, but also plain black) for about £15. IF you're wearing a black top and feeling confident you could definitely try patterned ones instead of the plain black (which are also nice - I have them!).

Lipz · 24/06/2019 08:43

I actually like it. I avoided cold shoulder tops as I thought they only suited really toned arms. My sil got me to try one on and it really suited me covered the arm parts I hate and the longer length top suited me more than the shorter length. If I was to wear it I'd get a straight leg smart black trousers, you can pick them up cheap enough, only bought a fab pair from debenhams for 22 euro, or I'd go with a three quarter length white trouser, whatever leg style that suits you, loose or skinny would both look good. And wear a really high sandal.

LouiseEH · 24/06/2019 09:23

My budget is £25
I’m size 14/16
5ft 3in
Have big arms so some sort of sleeve is a must

I don’t look good in maxi dresses but I do like the second link @Runningonempty84 posted

I can post a pic of me wearing the top if that helps?

OP posts:
shinynewapple · 24/06/2019 09:40

I think the top would look nice with black jeans ( none-ripped) and maybe some sandals

HalfStar · 24/06/2019 09:52

Running's second link to warehouse dress. Perfect. You could copy the accessories on the model too if you can rise to it, or.something similar.

Runningonempty84 · 24/06/2019 10:03

Glad you guys like the Warehouse dress. I love it, but it's out of stock in my size!!

Xiaoxiong · 24/06/2019 10:23

Yes please post a pic of you in the top!

Since you already have it, how does it make you feel to wear it? I'd say if it covers the bits you want to cover, then pair it with black jeans or trousers and heels. Glam up with some statement earrings or a bracelet and do your hair the way you like best. Cold shoulder tops aren't everyone's choice but they have been having a moment and wearing one will definitely make it look like you're making an effort to impress. Big smile, great lipstick and go a bit extra with your eye makeup, you'll look fab!!

HennyPennyHorror · 24/06/2019 10:37

If you do feel good in the top, maybe spend the 25 on a new bag or some earrings or something that makes you feel a bit spesh.

LouiseEH · 24/06/2019 10:40

The best I can do with a 1 year old running around 😂

The shoes I’m wearing are the only nice one I own

You look super-pretty OP! And lol at the little hand offering you a biscuit or something in the second pic!
Basically...in my (elderly opinion) I think you're young and lovely and could wear a bag and look gorgeous.

RubberTreePlant · 24/06/2019 10:45

It actually looks much better on you than it does on its own.
