Am I too fat for this dress?

As title. Fairly sure I am, plus not sure I'm brave enough to pull off the colour but I would love to be able to wear it (bought for me- I would never even look at this in a shop)

Excuse crap photo, only full length mirror in the house

I don't think so. You need better pants though Grin higher up ones iyswim.

Makemeaname · 23/06/2019 19:22

Yep these ones definitely cut my belly in half in an unnattacyive manner

It’s a lovely dress, it can you get it a size bigger? Photo is a bit blurry but it looks like it might be pulling in some areas?

EyesOpenWide · 23/06/2019 19:22

Love the colour, some shape-smoothing underwear would make an improvement, you’re being cut across the middle by whatever underwear you’ve got on currently.

HavelockVetinari · 23/06/2019 19:23

What Hermione said - it looks too tight, but a size larger may be better.

Runkle · 23/06/2019 19:23

You're not too fat. It's just very unforgiving material and colour.

Bluntness100 · 23/06/2019 19:24

it's a lovely dress and a great colour, but you need to be comfortable. I think it probably needs to be a size bigger as it looks like it's fitting tighter than it should.

Xyzzzzz · 23/06/2019 19:24

I love the colour but as suggested maybe try some shape smoothing underwear. It will make a difference to the line

MoltonSilver · 23/06/2019 19:25

The shape doesn't suit you, sorry. The colour is nice.

Runningonempty84 · 23/06/2019 19:26

I think it would look better a size or two bigger. It's a lovely colour though, so I wouldn't worry about pulling the red off.

I also think that the fact you're asking means you know it's a bit small and therefore wouldn't feel comfortable in it. And there's nothing more annoying than wearing clothes that don't fit properly, and finding yourself fiddling with them all day long (see also heels that are a bit too high, bra that digs in, skirt that you're worried is too short, etc etc)

WineIsMyCarb · 23/06/2019 19:26

I find that style of side-pockets unflattering (think I carry my weight in similar areas to you), so showing is from that angle probs doesn't show it at its best.
Can you repost with bigger/better knickers as that will probably perfect it Grin

Asmallgiraffe · 23/06/2019 19:26

You fit the dress, but I don’t think it massively flatters you from that angle. Do you have another photo? Love the colour 👍🏼

justasking111 · 23/06/2019 19:29

Not flattering, it is pulling, too small, not sure if a larger size is the answer, perhaps control all in one undergarment. But honestly I would take it back.

Asmallgiraffe · 23/06/2019 19:30

Ps, I’m a similar shape and find empire a winner 👍🏼

Switsy · 23/06/2019 19:30

You need to go up a size. It's too tight around your middle and will feel constrictive when you sit down.

MaidenMotherCrone · 23/06/2019 19:30

It's not a very flattering shape on you.

Empire line where the skirt falls from under your boobs would be a better shape.

Like this....

Switsy · 23/06/2019 19:31

Love the colour though. Don't be afraid of red!

FenellaMaxwell · 23/06/2019 19:31

It’s not that your too fat, it’s that it’s the wrong shape for you. An A Line skirt would suit better.

dudsville · 23/06/2019 19:32

I can't wear dresses with pockets, they always gape on me. They can be sewn up.

The pic isn't helpful.

And the underwear issue.

However I think the colour and dress are great. Try some better underwear?

Teddybear45 · 23/06/2019 19:37

When you have a big belly (or in my case a big bum) you have to own it because wearing baggy makes it look worse. I actually think the cut and style and colour makes what I can see of your breasts and skin look really good.

Tighnabruaich · 23/06/2019 19:38

It's pulling at the pockets. The colour is great, but it's just a bit tight on you all over.

givemeabigfatcakeanyday · 23/06/2019 19:40

The colour is fine but the dress does nothing for you.

SpeckledyHen · 23/06/2019 19:49

Great colour but a size too small . Can you change it OP and show us again with smoother undies ?

mimibunz · 23/06/2019 19:52

Gorgeous colour but the wrong style for you. You want a v-neckline, not one that cuts across your neck.

Makemeaname · 23/06/2019 19:55

Was in the sale so can't take it back. Think I'll stick it in the wardrobe until I lose weight, buy better pants, or decide to donate it to charity.
