If you're in your 30s, where do you shop?

I'm 34 and at the moment I feel a bit like everywhere is either a bit too old or a bit too young for me.

I like casual plain clothes, everything seems to be bold floral prints. Most of the stuff I like is probably more aimed at teenagers. It doesn't help that I'm stuck between a size 12 and a 14. 12 a bit too small but 14 swamps me, really annoying and struggling to lose a stone is which would make me my ideal weight.

I don't struggle so much in Winter, coats, jeans, knitwear are easy to find. It's Summer stuff I struggle with.

uniqlo. I’d guess at 90% of my clothes coming from there. Plenty of simple, plain casual clothes.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 20/06/2019 18:19

Uniqlo, & other stories, cos and Monki.
I’m 36.

Ellapaella · 20/06/2019 18:21

I've just turned 40. I still shop at TopShop and H&M quite a bit but also like:
Warehouse
French connection
Hush
All saints (on eBay)
Sezane (eBay)
Mango

Lots of people will say whistles but personally I'm not convinced, find it a little bit bland although some of their stuff was nice a few years ago and I've picked up a few bits on eBay. Lots of friends who are the same age as me like Zara but I can never find anything that suits me there.

goodluckandgodspeed · 20/06/2019 18:22

I’m 36 and I feel positively ancient in most shops.
I like warehouse, oasis, jigsaw and bizarrely river island (which my 30 year old friend said I wasn’t the target demographic for Sad )
It’s a shame cos I like a lot of stuff in new look etc and I like a lot of the fashion right now. A lot of it is plain with buttons, utility wear etc. I like all that stuff. I’m an 8 but not very toned and my legs are still really fat so shorter stuff is out. The tops of my arms are really fat too so vest tops are out as well Sad
I often think I look ok in something then will see someone younger wearing similar and realise that no, I look pretty awful.

Fatkins · 20/06/2019 18:41

Another vote for Uniqlo! Especially for basics. Their online service is, I think, a bit shit, so it's better to go in person imo.

Hobbs & Reiss for smart casual / office wear (not that I actually work in an office these days, but hey ho). I have a beautiful wool coat from Hobbs and my favourite smartish, without being occasion wear, dress is Reiss (eBay).

Topshop and Mud for jeans.

I get a lot of 'proper' shoes from Office and trainers from Vans.

Fatkins · 20/06/2019 18:43

I'm 36 and a size 16 if it matters.

cheesenpickles · 20/06/2019 18:48

ASO, river island, very, Topshop, H&M, new look. I've not really shifted my shop choices but what I buy has changed.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 20/06/2019 18:51

Late 30ies

Jeans from Next
H&m
Hush
Seasalt for bretons
Boden

BarrenFieldofFucks · 20/06/2019 18:52

I've had some nice stuff from oasis recently actually

Miseryisabutterfly · 20/06/2019 20:50

I’m 35 and usually shop in Zara, & Other Stories and Mango. Uterque appeals to me too, but I’ve not bought anything from there yet.

PenCreed · 20/06/2019 21:09

Oasis. I also like Yumi and Joanie, although their targets are younger - there’s some nice stuff though. I used to love Fever, but not so keen on their more recent stuff.

Firefly89 · 20/06/2019 22:04

Another vote for Uniqlo. Good fit and comfortable. I'm the same size as you and find medium in Uniqlo fit perfect

DPJ1973 · 20/06/2019 22:26

I'm also 34. I shop mostly in H&M, Oasis, basics from Primark, Oliver Bonas (sale only though!). I want to like Zara but our local store is awful, it's an absolute jumble sale with clothes all over the floor.

MistyMinge2 · 20/06/2019 22:29

I'm 38

The majority from H&M
Next for Jeans
New Look
Fat Face
Esprit
M&S (only recently. Seem to have really upped their game)
Oasis
Boden

Leftielefterson · 20/06/2019 22:35

Early 30s, currently liking

Reiss
Whistles
Zara
Cos
French connection
Sezane
Acne
Jigsaw
H&M
All saints

WhiskersPete · 20/06/2019 22:46

34 and enjoying Monsoon and SilkFred (online).

HippoPotter · 20/06/2019 23:16

Wolf and Badger has some lovely stuff but very expensive. I sometimes get nice stuff from Finery, Massimo Dutti and Onjenu (amazing maxi dresses and jumpsuits). And John Lewis does some nice bits in their Kin and Modern Rarity collections.

glasshalfsomething · 20/06/2019 23:20

Warehouse, All saints from eBay, Superdry for casual slouching and A bit of Mint Velvet too.

SrSteveOskowski · 20/06/2019 23:29

Zara, Primark, H&M, River Island.

I'm 39 and size 6-8.

FartnissEverbeans · 20/06/2019 23:34

I’m 35 and most of my stuff comes from Topshop. I absolutely love Topshop and always have done. I’ve got loads of lovely, good quality work clothes recently.

Randomneim · 20/06/2019 23:43

cos cos cos cos cos cos cos
and Cue in Australia, and Alpha60 (basically australian cos) and everlane. Academic art kid sheeple, me.

Randomneim · 20/06/2019 23:44

oh yeah and uniqlo, forgot that. Also forgot the siren lure of TKMaxx -- full of things good and bad for ALL ages. I'm 39.

IhaveALooBrush · 21/06/2019 09:22

Zara
H&M
Vintage shops
French connection in the sale
ASOS
Charity shops

Sigh81 · 21/06/2019 10:04

Mid 30s: Reiss, Karen Millen (only occasionally), Jigsaw, The Fold, Finery London; Baukjen; Boden.

If you're between sizes, though, find yourself a good seamstress: it makes the world of difference and it isn't as expensive as you'd think to get something altered!
