'cool' trainers

I'm after some trainers to wear with leggings/jeans on the school run and general wanderings on days off. I have gym trainers but I prefer keeping them for gym and running and they are great gym shoes (ASICS) but very much gym looking shoes.
Ideally I'd like mega comfy 🤣 I have converse but they are still painful on my heels after a few hours, I also have some of the summer more plimsolls ones but the are narrow on my toes and catch after a full day too 🙈
So I want something cool I keep looking at trainers and no idea what's hideous (sketchers is a no go i assume?) or what's 'in' was looking at Nike air force? Or Nike air Max or maybe superga. Do I need superga if I have converse?
Alot seem to be knit stuff which is a weather dependent shoe really so looking for something that is ok in a shower I'm not going to get soaked feet.
Any suggestions? What do you all wear on days off round town all weathers wear?

I have gold reebok classics, really comfi and a bit snazzy

Fantababy · 14/06/2019 12:15

I bought Nike Air Zoom Pegasus recently. They're a bit gym-y looking but bloody hell they're comfortable. They're like slippers.

historysock · 14/06/2019 12:17

Superga.
I swear by mine. Good with dresses and skirts as cut lower on the foot.
Plus they've just started doing some with a soft back so better if shoes tend to rub a bit on your heels.

Seven feet apart

I love my Nike Air Force 1 - v comfortable and I wear with jeans or maxi/midi dresses. Also have Nike Air Max 95 which are v comfy but I tend to only wear with trousers.

saywhatwhatnow · 14/06/2019 17:48

I second Air and Grace for comfort, the memory foam is lovely! They have a few nice styles.

IhaveALooBrush · 14/06/2019 17:48

Adidas Gazelles
Vans. Plus they're slip on which is a bonus for me.

CountFosco · 14/06/2019 21:42

I love my Stan Smiths (and I'm late 40s). Currently lusting after Novestas (with gum soles) but they are canvas. Otherwise Vejas are all over instagram at the moment but I think they are vegan? That may or may not affect your decision.

campervan00 · 14/06/2019 21:48

Adidas gazelles

spugzbunny · 14/06/2019 21:55

I also love my Adidas Gazelles.

BelindasGleeTeam · 14/06/2019 21:57

I went to Prague recently and came home with some Botas 66s.

They're SO comfy. And cool.

donajimena · 14/06/2019 21:58

Another Adidas Gazelles fan. So comfy and never out of style.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 14/06/2019 22:52

I've just bought these Internationalists.

LightOfAThousandStars · 14/06/2019 23:08

Nike Thea's are lovely as well if you haven't found anything yet.

Processedpea · 15/06/2019 08:28

Ooh you can customise your own internationalist that's cool

QueenofLouisiana · 15/06/2019 08:35

Superga for me. I looked at Stan Smiths, Gazelles etc last weekend- then ordered new Superga, just in a different colour.
I can’t get Converse to be comfy all day, my feet just aren’t quite right for the shoe. Love Superga though.

WingBingo · 15/06/2019 08:37

I went looking for Stan Smiths but I found these in John Lewis. I love them and I am living in them at the moment.

ASauvignonADay · 15/06/2019 08:53

Reebok classics are good
Nike internationalist
Adidas originals (although my new pair aren't that comfy - hoping they'll wear in)

ASauvignonADay · 15/06/2019 08:53

I want some Nike Air Force 1s but worried I'm too old 😂

Processedpea · 15/06/2019 09:38

i do wear my black mid top supergas every day at the moment.

superram · 15/06/2019 09:45

I wear Adidas superstars and have for about 30 years (I’m 42). I’m also a secondary teacher and the kids think I have ‘sick creps, miss’. They don’t laugh so I think I’m good and they are comfy.

danicohn · 15/06/2019 10:09

Air Maxes (Especially the 720s) or even the more pricey vapourmaxes, great comfort when running.

NurseButtercup · 15/06/2019 14:10

I've got Nike Cortez in three different colours red, grey and black and they are very comfortable. I wear with dresses and trousers.

blibblibs · 15/06/2019 14:16

Another Superga fan here. Get new white ones every year as the go with everything.
I've never had converse but I believe superga are slightly wider if that helps. Amazon is usually the cheapest place for them too.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 15/06/2019 14:47

I have a couple of pairs of Superga too, but I don't count them or Converse as trainers - to me they are pumps/plimsolls.
