Are your (bigger!) boobs ok to ever go bra free?

I realised this morning (it’s been a dawning process of realisation!) that when I wear eg a vest top with pyjama bottoms to sleep in and then have breakfast in them the next morning before showering, then if anyone were to look, you’d see that my boobs (nipples!) are really a couple of inches lower than they should be. They are no longer perky-whether it’s just age, breastfeeding, pregnancy or gravity! It wasn’t a nice sideways sight in the mirror this morning!

Does this bother you being in a vest top with no bra in front of family? What about holidaying with more extended family/friends? If sharing a house for a holiday, would you put a bra on under your pyjamas for breakfast?!

Or does everyone else have perkier boobs than me?!

The only adult I will be braless in front of is dh, I've always been that way though, I would never buy a dress or a top that I couldn't wear a bra with. They look bigger and more in your face and have always looked a bit saggy without a bra. I have definitely put a bra on under pyjamas when around other people or I'd wear a fluffy dressing gown over my pyjamas. In a vest top with no bra I'd feel practically naked in front of anyone other than dh.

NorthEndGal · 13/06/2019 10:32

I'm a bit of an odd ball, I am a free boober, and I only wear a bra on special occasions.
I am a C cup, sometimes you can tell where my nips are.
I have educated my family and friends on my reasons for my choice, and at least to my face, everyone has been fine with it, and in two years of being free, haven't lost any friends because of it.
It's awkward the first time you are around someone, and you may find yourself reaching to cover up with a sweater, housecoat, etc which is fine.

LettuceP · 13/06/2019 10:40

NorthEndGal I think that's really good to feel comfortable not wearing a bra, I wish I could get over my hang ups about it.

I think for me it's because I have had big boobs since I was about 12 so since school attention has always been drawn to them. Boys and then men have always stared and made comments about them for as long as I can remember and I've always hated it. I feel exposed without a bra and feel like they will be stared at more.

i agree

A few months ago I met a friend for coffee after I'd had a bad injury that meant I couldn't wear a bra for a week, wearing a tightish tank instead. I'm a 38H, so not small, but she marvelled that apparently I "didn't need" a bra as they seemed to look the same in or out of one, and I made a flippant comment "yeah, but my nipples would be a different place", which surprised her! She had convinced herself that "everyone else's" breasts were perfectly perky with nipples pointing up to high heaven, and was privately researching a breast lift to "correct" this.

Gravity only works in one direction. As your breasts get heavier, they'll point down.

QueenofPain · 13/06/2019 10:46

I’m a JJ cup with a fairly small back (36) for boobs that big. I am uncomfortable being braless (but clothed) in front of random people/the public, although mostly okay with it in front of my DP, Parents, some female friends if sharing a hotel room or drunk, etc. I wouldn’t go out in public like it.

Bralettes and soft crop top type things never worked for me, there’s never enough fabric to encase them, so always had bulges out the sides. However, I did recently find a little bralette on ASOS curve that does actually have enough surface area, thick enough straps and a proper bra fastening so it provides some support and makes me feel a lot more comfortable without underwire. I even wore it out in public with a vest top recently when I got new tattoos on my shoulders and physically couldn’t wear a bra. This all feels like a life changing breakthrough for me!

CassianAndor · 13/06/2019 10:47

I am an EE/F cup and never go braless except in my pjs with DH, DD, DSis and DM. If I'm at MIL's and in my pjs I'll keep my bra on.

I've never had perky boobs though. I remember failing the pencil test when I was about 14.

Rainbowknickers · 13/06/2019 11:39

The morning after I met my lovely in laws I’d come down to breakfast in my pjs
Couldn’t understand why my fil refused to look at me
Turns out you could see more of me in my white pj top than I thought!
I do wear a bra now but it’s a sports bra cos let’s face it nobody wants to see my fed 6 kids knockers!

PlinkPlink · 13/06/2019 11:52

I hate hate hate wearing a pyjama top with no support.

Always had larger bust (not a boast, a complaint if anything) and I have always felt uncomfortable with going braless.

In the evenings, I'll wear an underwire bikini bra to support them. I only take it off when I'm about to pop into bed.

After breastfeeding and pregnancy, they've dropped a bit as well so I'm really self- conscious about them. I try not to think about it too much but I want to have a boob lift once I'm sure we're not going to have more kids.

Boob lift and slight reduction if possible!

No

What about holidaying with more extended family/friends?

Yes

If sharing a house for a holiday, would you put a bra on under your pyjamas for breakfast?!

Yes

It’s not a gravity thing rather than an age thing for me, I have fairly large boobs (30E, so not massive but not small) and I haven’t been comfortable going braless since my teens. Plus if you’re braless, sudden movements can be painful!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 13/06/2019 12:02

It IS a gravity thing, I mean

fedup21 · 13/06/2019 12:07

Thank you for all the replies-it is reassuring to hear that other people’s nipples don’t all point north! I hate it, as the shape of my boobs are fine, but if you saw the nipples, they are so low it actually looks a bit odd Blush.

Im a G cup and rarely wear a bra except for work. Fuck it. I'd rather be comfortable than give someone a nicer view.

SushiTime · 13/06/2019 12:10

@QueenofPain you're my boob sister!

Same size!!! Please share the link to this bralette!

SushiTime · 13/06/2019 12:11

I also would wear a bra under pjs. It's so annoying but they'd be knee height of not and extended family do not need to see me like that.

StarlightLady · 13/06/2019 12:12

For starters, I always sleep naked so there is no PJ issue per se. But l don’t wear a bra under a dressing gown.

On a very warm summer’s day l occasionally go sans bra and don’t see it as a big deal. Having said that, l would not go to work braless.

At the end of the day, we all have nipples (men and women) why should l be covered up more than any man?

PintOfBovril · 13/06/2019 12:15

I'm a 34DD and I tend to try to wear a bra or higher necked top when around anyone other than DH, as my breasts aren't very perky and tend to sort of flop out away from one another, kind of one under each arm style. So I feel very conscious of this when around anyone else.

BlackPrism · 13/06/2019 12:16

I'm a 28 DD and go braless to work. They are perky though. Only issue is it's embarrassing if it's cold - but my nips are ruthless and often show through bras too so there's not much difference

QueenofPain · 13/06/2019 12:33

Hi @sushitime

It’s this one; www.asos.com/prd/10050821?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

Hope the link works! There’s also a peculiar mauve berry colour and a white one. This post reminded me that I wanted to order 200 more before they disappeared forever.

SushiTime · 13/06/2019 12:34

Amazing thanks @QueenofPain also good for camping morning toilet block trips!

Do you get 18-20?

fedup21 · 13/06/2019 12:36

At the end of the day, we all have nipples (men and women) why should l be covered up more than any man?

Well, not many men have nipples that are drooping inches below where they should be. I wouldn’t mind anyone seeing mine if they were in the right place!

QueenofPain · 13/06/2019 12:39

@SushiTime

I got the next one up, as that most closely resembles the rest of my body size even though my back is smaller, and I figured the extra fabric would help with the side spillage.

StarlightLady · 13/06/2019 14:14

@fedup21 - Maybe not their nipples, but certainly often there tummies. Grin

SushiTime · 13/06/2019 14:39

@QueenofPain ordered! Thanks x

fedup21 · 13/06/2019 19:39

@StarlightLady ha ha, no I suppose you’re right!
